    Default February 17

Since this is only two weeks from today I want to remind everyone that the deadline to set game 56 lineups is Tuesday February 17, 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time (7:30 Eastern). The game 56 lineup will be used to determine your summer rosters for this year.

So the lineup for the deadline you would take the first 9 players and they would be the 9 assumed players that each team would keep??

No, you keep all 12 regardless of lineup order. Then, two weeks or so before the draft, you tell the league which 9 you are protecting. This protects YOU from summer injuries, surprise retirements (Ven Excel, anyone?) and the like.

This system prevents playoff teams from picking up players while the rest of the league is frozen and also allows them to drop injured "keepers" and get them back in the summer.

(Rim, please correct me if I'm wrong).

You're right - summer rosters are 12 and you don't decide which to keep out of those until next fall. And just to be sure everyone's clear, after game 56 playoff teams can add/drop - it won't affect their summer rosters though. But if they have an injury or something they can still make moves. After game 56 non-playoff teams are frozen.

If the league would let us I'd argue for not having to drop at all in the fall - keep your 12, draft another 2 or 3 to take into "training camp", then make your cuts to 12 by the time the 1st lineups are set. This league won't let us though.

So, for all clarity when can we start wheeling and dealing again, when do we go back to 9 player rosters and when do we draft (assuming we won't use picks to go to 10, 11 or 12 strong rosters)?

    Regards,

Start trading August 1 and submit 9-man rosters and draft whenever the league votes to.
