Default Other shooting Guards worth pursuing

    Hey, guys;

I was thinking, everyone's talking about the big name shooting guards. Well, what if the Pacers went after a SG like Derek Anderson from Portland or Kareem Rush from the Lakers? Both of these teams have a need for a SF and are close to the same salary as AL. Would anyone else be happy with either of these players?

Al Harrington makes $6,250,000 next year.

    Anderson makes $8,443,500.

    Rush makes $1,172,446.

Neither guy is even close to what Harrington makes. And in my estimation, neither guy has Harrington's value.

This is a list Bulletproof wrote down about a month ago, I think this is indeed the sort of players we should go after, I would like to add Brent Barry and Voshon Leonard and maybe even Crawford to it.

Ok, so some of these players look rather unlikely, but you never know and its more of an indicator of what sort of quality should be our aim. The exact player we want to acquire depends also, offcourse, IF we would be willing to sacrifice Ron into a trade for that particular SG or not.

    2003-04

    R. Allen.............23.0 ppg; 44.0 FG%; 39.1 3P%; 90.4 FT%; 4.8 apg

    J. Crawford......17.3 ppg; 38.6 FG%; 31.7 3P%; 83.3 FT%; 5.1 apg

    M. Ginobili........12.8 ppg; 41.8 FG%; 35.9 3P%; 80.2 FT%; 3.8 apg

    L. Hughes........18.8 ppg; 39.7 FG%; 34.0 3P%; 79.7 FT%; 2.4 apg

    T. McGrady.......28.0 ppg; 41.7 FG%; 33.9 3P%; 79.6 FT%; 5.5 apg

    C. Mobley.........15.8 ppg; 42.5 FG%; 39.0 3P%; 81.1 FT%; 3.2 apg

    F. Murray.........12.3 ppg; 42.5 FG%; 29.3 3P%; 71.5 FT%; 2.5 apg

    P. Pierce...........22.9 ppg; 40.2 FG%; 29.9 3P%; 81.9 FT%; 5.1 apg

    M. Redd............21.7 ppg; 44.0 FG%; 35.0 3P%; 86.8 FT%; 2.3 asp

    Q. Richardson...17.3 ppg; 39.8 FG%; 35.2 3P%; 74.0 FT%; 2.1 apg

    J. Richardson....18.7 ppg; 43.9 FG%; 28.2 3P%; 68.4 FT%; 2.9 apg

I think we should go after Q-Rich we have a history of dealing with the Clippers and they are going to lose him anyway. If we can send them a player who is locked up for a few more years at a reasonable deal then they might be willing. Hard to know what Sterling is ever thinking of course but worth a try.

We dont need a guy who can score 50 we just need a guy who can average 15-18 ppg. Thats all to have a complete roster.

I think either Jason Richardson or Q-Rich would be ideal. They have been on bad teams so they will savor the chance to play for a team like the Pacers. We should be able to get one of them without giving up the farm after all we are offering big for small here. Plus they are in the age group of the rest of the team.

Dont get me wrong I would still love to get T-Mac but not at the cost of Tinsley and Foster. Al and Bender along with Pollard I could live with but to give up our starting pg and center would be stupid.

Yup! Besides IF we were to acquire such a "super" scoring quard it would come at a hefty price and a weakening of the current squad at other positions too. For some players I MIGHT just aggree with that, but there are only very, very few of those.

I still think we should go after J-Rich, young with a lot of upsides, talented, strong, I'd like to see him play for the Pacers

Ya I think J. Richardson would fit.I also like Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, I'm not too crazy about....could be the battles he has had against the Pacers, seems almost like inviting the enemy in your ranks! And I don't care for B. Barry, but thats only because I haven't really seen him play that much, hasn't he made the rounds in the NBA?

We are not going to get Allen without gutting the team, same with Ginobili. We could probably get Crawford in a sign and trade but he is another too short 2 guard. I just think Q-Rich is the one to pursue.

If Sterling things he will leave anyway he would probably be willing to make a deal. Send him a young promising talent and I think he might bite.

True,I am totally against breaking this team up.I would be happy with Q. richardson,I don't believe we have to go after a star...perhaps a developing star,I just want Larry to keep his cool(which I know he will).I think we are a shooter away from going to the next level.Maybe some help at center.I don't like JO at center.

Lets hope Kobe wants to play in Clipperland! That way Shaq stays in Lakerland, the Clippers would want to trade Q-Rich and we, I can't imagine, wouldn't want them to have the problem of having too many potent SG's, now do we?

Crawford is not too short to play 2. He's 6-5.

What's the word on Flip Murray? I know that he had a break out season, but do you think he is a flash in the pan? Does he have the height of a decent shooting guard, or is he another dreaded "tweener"? I seen him in both games against the Pacers, but he didn't stick in my mind for some reason.

They'd almost definitely trade him for Al. The Bulls like and want Al, and they're prepared to let Crawford leave in free agency.

If they could go from letting him walk, to using him to net Al Harrington, I'm positive they'd do it.

I think it would be a cause for celebration if we got Crawford. If we retained Ron, we'd look like we did in game 4 of the ECFs almost every night. And if Harrison became a contributor...whoa daddy...

I want to add unrestricted Rodney White to that list.

    http://www.nba.com/playerfile/rodney....html?nav=page

He can be had cheap & without breaking up the core of the team.

    R. Allen.............23.0 ppg; 44.0 FG%; 39.1 3P%; 90.4 FT%; 4.8 apg

    J. Crawford......17.3 ppg; 38.6 FG%; 31.7 3P%; 83.3 FT%; 5.1 apg

    M. Ginobili........12.8 ppg; 41.8 FG%; 35.9 3P%; 80.2 FT%; 3.8 apg

    L. Hughes........18.8 ppg; 39.7 FG%; 34.0 3P%; 79.7 FT%; 2.4 apg

    T. McGrady.......28.0 ppg; 41.7 FG%; 33.9 3P%; 79.6 FT%; 5.5 apg

    C. Mobley.........15.8 ppg; 42.5 FG%; 39.0 3P%; 81.1 FT%; 3.2 apg

    F. Murray.........12.3 ppg; 42.5 FG%; 29.3 3P%; 71.5 FT%; 2.5 apg

    P. Pierce...........22.9 ppg; 40.2 FG%; 29.9 3P%; 81.9 FT%; 5.1 apg

    M. Redd............21.7 ppg; 44.0 FG%; 35.0 3P%; 86.8 FT%; 2.3 asp

    Q. Richardson...17.3 ppg; 39.8 FG%; 35.2 3P%; 74.0 FT%; 2.1 apg

    J. Richardson....18.7 ppg; 43.9 FG%; 28.2 3P%; 68.4 FT%; 2.9 apg

    B. Barry............10.8 ppg; 50.4 FG%; 45.2 3P%; 82.7 FT%; 5.8 apg

    V. Lenard..........14.2 ppg; 42.2 FG%; 36.7 3P%; 79.1 FT%; 2.1 apg

    S. Jackson.........18.1 ppg; 42.5 FG%; 34.0 3P%; 78.5 FT%; 3.1 apg

    R. White ........... 7.5 ppg; 45.9 FG%; 37.9 3p%; 75.0 FT%; .8 apg.

White's numbers are in 13.7 mpg too. His reb. numbers are 2.30 as well.

At 6-9 & turning 24 in just a couple days I think White should be considered.

I been saying that for oh so long , I really am tired of hearing that we need Tmac ...No we don't need a Tmac or Paul Pierce , or Ray Allen. Yes they would be nice but at what cost to the team do these players come ? I say a pretty high price .

They would come at a hefty price, yes. The only players on our list I would be willing to pay that for are Tracy MacGrady and Paul Pierce, though I wouldn't want to give Boston as much for Pierce as I would be willing to give the Magic for T-Mac.

Im not too high on Ray Allen, dont get me wrong, he is a great SG, but he's just a little too oft-injured for my personal liking and I know he can dish pretty good, but I dont really know his defence, he just comes across a little too much as a shooter only in my book, great player, no way I want a serious roster overhaul to get him.
