This is always a pretty interesting read.

He has Granger at 17 in the "Effectively Untouchable" category right ahead of Big Al, Bosh, Melo, and right behind of Manu and Pau.

A good read every year and I think pretty fair.

LOL at his comments about Amare:

    36. Amare Stoudemire
Bruce in Phoenix recently begged me, "Can you hold off on the Trade Value column until some GM is dumb enough to offer us too much for Amare? I don't want them to know that he sucks now!" Hey, Bruce? I think they know. Why do you think you're getting so many pu-pu platter offers? It would help if Amare grabbed a rebound or switched correctly on a high screen more than twice per quarter. I still say the Amare era is salvageable -- stick the kid on a team with a good point guard (Chicago?), tell him to just worry about putting the biscuit in the basket (New York? G-State?), or trade for him and say, "We love you, you're our franchise guy" (Sacramento? Memphis? Indiana?) and I think he'd start slapping up 29-9s again. With a smile on his face.
With the way that Granger has taken the reigns as leader of this team, you would have to wonder how he would react if there was another Alpha-Male dumped onto the team that wants to be the #1 guy.

Luol Deng: Signs of life lately. I caught the Bulls in person recently and it's astonishing that they aren't good or even half-decent. Of all the lousy coaching hirings recently (Terry Porter, P.J. Carlesimo, Michael Curry, Sam Vincent, Reggie Theus, Marc Iavaroni), what's funny is Vinny Del Negro was by far the worst. It's even scarier in person when you're sitting behind the Bulls' bench; I know a reader once compared Vinny's coaching to Shooter's taking over Hickory High that first time, but actually, it's more like watching an old person getting ready to go through a metal detector at an airport. Just complete confusion and panic and a lot of stopping and starting and glancing around. I feel bad even making fun of it. Let's just move on."

    This was precious!

He better be able to handle it. Teams can have more than one main guy.

I like how Simmons credits the Brawl in Detroit as reason the Pacers were able to draft Granger in the first place. I had never thought of it that way. Thanks Ron & the rest of the gang!

Yeah thanks for causing PD to have 100 million financhial threads and having the threat of losing the team, but at least we got a great player that may not play in this state in the next 5 years.

Im surprised to see Troy Murphy on that list. I know his contract is bad, I argee with that. But hes been playing a lot better this season. Averaging a double double, hitting down 3s consistently and his assist numbers aren't that bad. I dont think he would considered the 15th worst contract
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

I go back and forth on how bad I think Murphy's contract is. The moment I decided it is really bad was when I checked Brad Miller's contract (around $11MM this season). I still think Brad was way overpaid in the summer of 2003, but it doesn't seem like anything when you look at Murphy's.

BAsed on what I've read AS say, he seems to want no part of being a team leader.
