    Default IND/OKC

    IND gets:

    Tyson Chandler 3 yr, 36.75M
    Antonio Daniels 2 yr, 12.80M
    2009 First round pick (unprotected)
CY Salary: 17.55M Total Salaries: 49.55M

    NO gets:

    Rasho Nesterovic 1 yr, 8.40M
    Jamaal Tinsley 3yr, 21.60M
    Travis Deiner 2 yr, 3.36M
    2010 Second round pick
CY Salary: 16.77M Total Salary: 33.36M

I know we take on extra money in this deal. We get rid of Tinsley and get the young, shot blocking, low post defender that we so desperately need. We will get their late first rounder this year due to the fact that we put ourselves in a situation where we are within 5M of the LT threshold with 8 players under contract (not counting draft picks) and are taking on an extra 16M over the course of the deal. We would then be adding three rookies to the team this year and would be looking at signing a couple of minimum deal players to round out the roster. I am still a proponent of trading our pick if it is 8 or later for two late firsts.

New Orleans is in money trouble... they need to get rid of salary. Chandler they can trade, Peja they can't. They are giving up a lot here but this is about money for them. They have David West and Chris Paul. That's enough for them to be competitive. Chandler makes a lot of money and they can move him and get some expiring contracts back. They are taking Tinsley and Deiner back to fill the backup PG spots. They only have two PG's on their roster, we have four, so this gives both teams three PG's. With this trade we don't have the need to resign Jack, unless he wants to sign with us for a smaller deal. We can use one of our later picks on a PG.

NO needs Tyson Chandler for his interior defense against the West bigs. As much as I want Tyson, it's not going to happen.

The Hornets are trying to cut costs, so I really don't see them taking on Tinsley. I especially don't see them including a 1st rounder in this type of deal.

I'd think that Rasho and Baston would be a better offer.

This deal is not as far fetched as you think.

Chandler is the only large contract they can trade.

Thier first rounder will be somewhere in the high 20's and they don't have a second rounder. We could ask for their LATE first rounder, because in essence it would be a pick for cash deal, since we are taking back an extra $16M, which is a very big number. I don't think the owner of the Hornets would be laughing at $16M, but maybe JeffG is a whole hell of a lot richer than he is. We would ask for a pick to help take the burden off of next year's LT for us to be able to take on more money.

They are getting an upgrade in Tinsley and Deiner for Daniels, otherwise this trade would be difficult to swing because of the second year on Deiner's deal off-setting Chandler's second year by an extra couple million. That is necessary for us to stay under the LT. That's why Baston doesn't really make a difference in the deal. We might throw in Baston to make the money a little less lopsided.

This biggest issue with working this deal out is making sure we can stay under next year's tax.

So can I. If it's all about money for them, the Pacers would need to include Daniels and Rasho.

Chandler is too injury prone to invest in him.

I am going to bump this thread. It is ironic that I accidentally put OKC as the thread title when I really meant NO.

The trade got rescinded and NO is still looking for relief. I think this really puts a huge interest in Chandler who teams thought weren't going to be able to pony up for him.

I still am saying something along the lines of my original proposal but without the picks. (I was being greedy).
