Default Super Bowl XLIII - Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals

Wow, what a bizarre match-up, huh?

I doubt that there were many outside of 'zona who had the Cardinals in the Big Game, and I doubt that many more will predict the Cards to win the whole enchilada.

I, however, believe that, when all is said and done, a third consecutive Super Bowl will be won by a team with connections to our very own Colts.

Well, the Giants beat the undefeateds last year. Who knows? Though I don't like the Fiercest Robin-Sized Birds' chances against that defense.

As we saw last year, anything can happen in the Super Bowl.

    Go Cardinals (and Edge)!

I'm rooting for whatever sends the most shockwaves thru Coltland about what we need to do next season if we want to make it to the SB.

The Cardinals are HEAVY underdogs in my opinion, probably even bigger underdogs than the Giants were last year.

They are underdogs, but I don't know about HEAVY underdogs. I think it's pretty likely that Pittsburgh wins it, but you never know. I do know one thing, when you play Arizona, your defense cannot take a single play off. If you have two bad plays early, you could be in a 14 point hole, and Arizona is almost impossible to beat when they have a lead. I'm not saying that these things are likely to happen, but they are certainly not impossible. Arizona manhandled one great defense, and one that is really good on the way to the SB. So it's not like they are shaking in their shoes. Pitt is definitely better than any D they have faced this season though. By the same token, Arizona will be far and away the best offensive team Pitt has played this season. I know they played some good ones, but not on Arizona's level, with a QB who almost never gets sacked and can throw it a mile to a receiver who catches anything that makes it into his zipcode. I'm actually pretty excited to see who wins this thing because it's a classic great O vs. great D matchup.

What was Boldin's issue on the sidelines in the championship game?

I saw on ESPN this mornign that he had been taken out of the game for the last drive and he was upset becuase he wasn't told why. Like the coaches have time to massage his ego during a 4th quarter comback in the payoffs. Regardless he's a great player, just slightly more diva-ish than any of us care for.

It will help to be in a warm climate, and I want to see the Cards win, but my prediction is 31-7 Steelers, with 17 points off turnovers.

    Too much D for Pittsburgh.

Pretty much. As much as I want Arizona to win, they won't. Because it's the Steelers defense.

Arizona won't win...because I want them to win.

The biggest problem I see for the Cardinals is that Warner wont have any time to throw the ball. I am not counting them out, but they need to protect Warner and make some plays defensively. That is the only way they will win.

I think Boldin is upset about his role in the offense. He is much better then he showed this past week.

I'm taking the Cardinals just because it's their first SB.
I usually pick the underdogs to root for anyways.

It's fitting that Springsteen is doing the halftime show this year - After all he did the halftime events the last time the Cardinals were there.

Springsteen and the Steelers. This is the Super Bowl of Super Bowls for me.

Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

If we want to make it to a superbowl get Kurt Warner to be your QB for the playoffs. Peyton has trouble in the post season.

I'm looking to see the Cardinals pull it off. I have faith in Warner's ability to lead this team through the game and to the win.

I'll root for the Cards because they are the dog, Warner is a good guy, and in the end the outcome really doesn't matter to me.

You know what really sucks? Having to work during the Super Bowl.

The worst part is, we'll probably get just enough people in during the game to keep us from closing early.

Bah. Thought 'zona had 'em when they scored that late TD, but their defense turned into the Colts' defense on that last Pittsburgh drive.

Btw, those stupid, late roughness penalties on the Steelers are one reason people don't like them. They damn near cost them the game.

Over 25 freaking people came in to play during the Super Bowl, and the last bunch didn't leave until 45 minutes past close.
