Default I like these little things from Danny

I appreciate his sincerity when he takes the losing very hard, and I'm enjoying his enthusiasm to this:

Danny Granger, who is averaging a career-high 25.5 points while carrying the Pacers, let out a loud "Yes!" on Tuesday when he found out his running mate was returning.

"That's great news," Granger said. "It only helps when you add a player like Mike, who can score, pass, is a great help-side defender. He takes so much pressure off everybody else, as skilled as he is."

He's quickly becoming my favorite Pacer of all time, since I wasn't a Pacer fan yet when Reggie was around.

That is good to read. I really think that Danny is the kind of guy that really, really wants to win and the type of guy who'd be happier scoring 19 ppg on an 18-16 team than 25 ppg on a 12-22 team.

I bet his scoring does not change that much. He is going to the rack more often. He will get more open shots.

Yes, but I'm sure that Jeff Green would've been more effusive, perhaps even wringing out a few tears of joy.

I don't doubt it. Jeff Green is a top-5 pick.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

    Good find.

Danny is becoming my favorite Pacer ever outside of Reggie.

He's so much more likable to me than JO or Artest ever were.

Danny is definitely up there among my favorite Pacers of all time... not quite there with Reggie, Dale, Rik, Mark yet but he's working on it.

Just think, this guy is in his 4th year. Imagine the things he should be able to accomplish over his next decade here.

Danny will be a Pacer for life.

Now that I think about it, Danny would have been great playing next to Jackson, Miller, Davis, and Smits. He's the kind of SF they needed. I care to guess his personality would mesh well with them, too.

yeah.... how about we insert Danny and delete Jalen from the '99-'00 team. Might have knocked the Lakers off with a Miller/Granger duo. Ahhhh the good ol days

I don't know about that. Jalen was awesome in the 2000 run.

The one fear, I have is that Danny goes back into his shell. If that doesn't happen, then w00t.

The way he would defer too much when JO was on court with him.

Do you think he did this with Dunleavy last year? I am not attacking just trying to see what people think of this.

If he does do this it calls for attention. Either Danny can not play exceedingly well with a player like Dunleavy. Or Danny shies from being the leader.

I would hope that it would be the former if that were the case.

I would bet some of that was because JO made it known that it was "his team". As a first or second year player, I doubt Danny was about to challenge that.

That's something else I love about Danny. He doesn't have to remind everyone every single day that it's "his" team. He just goes out and plays his *** off every night.

Dunleavy played 82 games last season, yet Danny averaged 19.6 points per game.

Post All-Star Break, when Dunleavy averaged 22.3 pts, 4.3 rebs, and 3.7 assists while taking 15.1 shots per game and shooting .478, Danny posted the following numbers:

    23.1 ppg
    6.7 rebs
    2.4 asts
    18.1 shots
    .451 FG%

    The team was 15-14.

Look, Dunleavy is the antithesis, offensively, of JO and Jamaal. They were both blackholes.

The numbers seem to indicate that Granger and Dunleavy produce very well together.

Simply untrue. Even last year Jermaine was calling it Danny's team and saying Danny was the future, but Danny (at the beginning of the season, at least) was just a completely different player when Jermaine was on the court. He'd get the ball but not do anything with it, choosing instead to defer. Just like Reggie. Drove me crazy.

In Dun's absence Danny has averaged a half shot more per game than those figures, so I don't see Danny's average's changing much with Dun back. Here's this years averages.

    25.5 ppg
    5.1 rebs
    3.4 asts
    18.6 shots
    .455 FG%

Oddly enough, me, the guy running the DG=Pip franchise, does not yet list him as one of my faves all-time. Just too soon I suppose.

But then Reggie was never one of my faves either, too much of a fave of everyone else I think. I always end up focusing on the guy helping the guy it seems. My list is Jax, Det, Dale, Tony, Ron circa AS season, Mike Williams.

I was in awe of what Reggie did and I loved him as a Pacer, same with Rik to a lesser extent (the awe part). Granger is falling more into that spot for me. He makes plays that simply blow me away, he's just amazing at times.

I think Quis is my favorite Pacer right now, and Rush even though he's struggling with his shot. McBob would be in there too if only he'd get a bit more PT.
