Default Is anybody else really worried about San Diego?

So for the last three weeks I've grown increasingly convinced that Denver will not clinch their division and play San Diego for first place next week. Now, this has come into fruition and I'm pretty sure that they will win. Is anybody else really worried about San Diego? I just don't we ever match up well with their defense. Although we barely beat them this year, I just don't get the feeling we can do it again in the playoffs.

I apologize if this has been discussed before...I just had to get it out.

    I'm worried.

I've been pulling for Denver for weeks now, and against San Diego, because we simply do not match up well with them.

They beat us twice last year with the Vinateri missed chp shot, then of course the playoff letdown.

We barely hung on there this year, and they frankly weren't playing very well then.

I even date back to the season we started 13-0, and they came into Indy and ruined our perfect season.

Obviously I still feel we can beat the Chargers, but it will not be easy, especially winning at San Diego twice in one year, seeing that if they make the playoffs, that place will be rocking since Denver should've closed them out a long time ago.

That Ed Hochuli calls looks big right now

I have to admit I've been rooting for San Diego to be eliminated, because I didn't want to face them in the playoffs. For whatever reason, they've had our number of late.

Meh. Certainly I'd rather play Denver, but we'll beat SD if we have to.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Agreed.... After only one SB win you could say that about most playoff teams we face. Actually I feel pretty good about anyone we face since we don't have the layoff bug-a-boo this time.

Since Kegboy might not see his thread I'll answer for him.

    Heck YES!

As for me after what happened last year I want no part of them.

    I have a question...

I personally can't recall, but is the NFL like Major League Baseball where you can't play a team within you division in the first round?

I ask this b/c if the Ravens lose, there's a pretty good chance the AFC East teams will be seeded 3rd and 6th.

Not saying I think the Ravens will lose, but I may prefer an AFC East team, to the Chargers.

On the bright side, San Diego should have some warm weather. As should Miami

This is not the San Diego team of last year. They beat a declining Bucs team missing quite a few of its playmakers on defense. San Diego has had some decent games, but overall they have been very unimpressive this year. The only reason they are still in the discussion is because Herm Edwards is the worst coach of all time and somehow managed to let SD score 2 TDs in less than 2 minutes. I would much rather the Pats face the Chargers than the Ravens. (Assuming they make it.)

It is a travesty that one of the teams out in the AFC West will make the playoffs.

Colts should beat SD pretty comfortably just because they're better. SD's on a roll right now but so is Indy. If I were you I'd hope for an SD win because the weather there has a better chance of being good for your passing game than Denver. But you should whip either of them. Just get to the QB.

    "Take a hike!"

"Ya know, I'm gonna do that. The weather out here is sweet!"

I don't like the thought of playing them again, but I think we'd beat them...again. I just can't believe they have a chance to make the playoffs.

I'm really worried about pretty much anybody, honestly. We've already proven that we can lose to an underdog in the first round with consistency.

And the NFC West. And the NFC North.

And it continues to be a travesty that an NFC team gets an automatic berth in the Super Bowl. The Giants were deserving. Most of the others for the past few years have not been.

The NFC champion should be forced to defeat the AFC runner up for the right to play in the SB. If they lose, we can have a rematch of the AFC championship game for the Super Bowl.

Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Yep. If they hadn't had that terrific '06 playoffs, I would be convinced they were more likely to lose than to win. Because of '06, it's a toss-up to me.

We aren't going to lose to SD or Denver. We're not as bad as you think we are, and we're certainly better than those two teams.

The real reason I don't think either the Chargers or Broncos are a bad matchup is because neither team has much of a running game. Seems strange to say that about a team with LT on it but it's true.

In past years, I would have agreed with this..but the NFC has a lot of great teams this year. The Falcons, Panthers, and Giants are all very good teams. The Cowboys and Vikings also both have a ton of talent and should be taken seriously as well.

Since I live in Georgia I get all the Falcons games and not only have they turned into a competitive team, they are a legit contender. Mike Smith is a hell of a coach and Matt Ryan is the best young QB in this league. He will approach a Manning/Brady level very soon and is probably the most impressive rookie QB I have ever seen. If Atlanta had some more playmakers on defense besides Abraham, I'd dub them as favorites to represent the NFC in the SB. The playoffs should be very exciting this year because everything is so wide open in both the AFC and NFC. Any team in the AFC could make it and any team in the NFC could make it (well except for the Cardinals).

Sure, any given Sunday the Lions could beat someone, too. But most Sundays, I'll take the Colts over the AFC West.

And just how many times have we lost to under dog teams in the first round? Two years and one was actually second round because of the bye? At least Pitt won the SB and I think the Bus deserved it, as much as I hate Pitt.

San Diego strikes no fear in me and I doubt they scare the Colts. They barely beat the Colts last year (actually we gave them that game with the missed FG).

The Chargers are frauds that will go down in history as the second 8-8 team to win their division. They're something like 1-5 against teams that are in the Playoffs. They'll be a tiny footnote on Manning's EPIC season.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

The Colts are pretty good in Wildcard games. Peyton's 3-2 in overall in Wildcard games but the Colts have won 3 in a row. It's when they have a bye week that they usually choke (the Tennessee '99, and Pittsburgh '05 games immediately come back to mind).

So I think they'll continue their streak.

After the way we started the season I'm just glad we're in the playoffs... whoever the opponent is.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.
