I think what we need to do is move up the next forum party so I could look at this PC...lol.

I'm looking at more of the Toshiba utilities for your model of laptop, and there are some things I see on here that could potentially fix your problem.

Well Shade, look at the bright side. Once you finally get this figured out, you'll have Windows Vista up and running! I guess that's a brightside j/k

I'm not sure if you knew this or not but I'm pretty sure Jim O'Brien was one of the software designers.

There's nothing worse than chasing your tail on a hardware/software problem that seems like you alone or stuck with it. My laptop had a USB issue and the answer was to flash it with the WRONG BIOS and THEN install the right one. When I stumbled across that after several days of looking I thought "No way".... but then I had to get the problem fixed or the computer was as good as dead to me anyway. Funny thing is, that solution worked. I don't know what the deal was.

This seems like a Toshiba issue.

    Yeah, Toshiba = balls

You're right though, Bball. Sometimes these problems just defy logic.

Mine's a Lenovo. I couldn't buy a Toshiba after reading Shade's woes when he first started having troubles.

I had a Toshiba. Upgrading it to Vista was not a hassle, but dealing with the constant battery recalls I had to go through, I gave up and bought an HP, which is my main brand.

BTW, lenovo is not a bad brand.

I already can't get more than 10 minutes out of my battery before it dies. What a pile of crap.

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I ALMOST went to that. But I have so much crap I bring home from work that has real issues with being un-windowed that I eventually decided against it.

Or maybe I was just being paranoid. Definitely prefer Mozilla for the browser though - after using it a while I'm always amazed people used Explorer.

Shade, I hear Toshiba has a pretty good warranty Service, maybe you should try calling them and new Egg

Same here. I'm afraid of having to deal with too many incompatibility issues with all the software I use.

I'm fine with people like Dukie not having a problem with Vista and defending it, but I will only leave XP Pro kicking and screaming. I don't need the hassle of having to have top gear hardware and a bunch of updated drivers just to have a new OS that holds my hand when I don't want it to, still has glitches, and won't work with any number of programs.

Vista is fine, as the Longhorn Experiment apparently proved, but I'm sticking with what works just fine.
    Me too!

Um...it's obviously working to some extent, or I wouldn't be here right now.
