Default Okafor will replace Ben Wallace on the olympic team..

    ........just reported on ESPN.

I LOVE that selection. The team has plenty of scorers, needed a shotblocker.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

I don't get it. If your main goal going over there is to win the gold which it should be then how can you take a guy thats never played in the NBA. You have quality players in the NBA who would probably love to represent the U.S. and would be much more effective then Okafor because of their experience. Theo Ratliff is just one example; if Tim Duncan were to get injured during play the U.S. would be much better having Theo step in as opposed to a youngster who could make mistakes and cost them the game.

I think the list of players that have turned down an invitation is longer than the ones who have accepted.

My expectations for our country in the basketball portion of the Olympics are "yabba dabba doo" low.

It's just stupid to have guys that haven't even been in the league yet to be in the Olympics. Is there THAT little interest amongst the active NBA players?

I'd rather have a young player that wants to be there rather than an established NBA player that is ed: about representing their country...
