Default Pacers want Shaun Livingston ?

Here is what I have gleamed from ESPN Insider Chad Ford, yes I am a paying member.

Suns may now be the leading candidate to get McGrady, offering Joe Johnson, Marion and the 7th pick.

Pacers are using Ron and AL as the bait.

All this indecision about T-Mac has put the Pacers in limbo about trading AL for the 10th pick.

Bulls are also considering trading Pippen and their #3rd pick for Al harrington, Pacers would then take Shaun Livingston

Celts and Bulls are talking about a Paul Pierce for Chandler and the Bulls #3 pick.

Read what a current league GM has to say about all this.

"This is nuts, said a one team GM, I've never seen such a high volume of trade talks in my life, everyone's taking their shot at McGrady, everyone is trying to move up or down, I'm not sure which way is up or down anymore"

Anyone know anything abut Livingston. Isn't he a 6'7" point guard

Hmm.... well, if anything, we've got lots of options. So far the Cleveland deal looks best to me.

Celts and Bulls are talking about a Paul Pierce for Chandler and the Bulls #3 pick.
If that's what it takes to get Pierce, we may have a shot at him after all.

He sounds really good, this is from nbadraft.net...

Strengths: The first thing you notice is his size. He towers over almost all point guards. Shawn's height allows him to not only shoot over smaller point guards, but he also has the ability to see the passing lanes clearer. Combine that with great ball handling and good basketball knowledge and you have a great point guard. Shawn is extremely smooth and shows good command and poise on the court...Been known to make some very difficult passes look very easy...a nice overall talent

Weaknesses: Needs to add some strength... Must be more careful with the ball and trust his teammates more...His shot has improved over the last year, but still needs more consistency. Mechanics need some work...Sometimes prone to having the ball stolen because he stays to high, needs to get lower.

Notes: His height will really intrigue many teams….good potential

Wow - Phoenix is offering a pretty nice deal to the Magic if that is the case.

And that way, Francis can stay in Houston and stop crying.

I think Orlando would actually take that deal...Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion, #7. I would take it over the Houston proposal...

As for taking Shaun Livingston...do we want another high schooler to work with? It will be like Al Harrington all over again...but I think Livingston could develop into a better player than Al.

We all know DW has always loved big point guards. I was reading an old Sports Illustrated last night there was anm article about Carter and T-Mac being on the Raptors and there was a quote from DW saying how he would play T-Mac at point guard. Which he did at times by the way for the Raptors

I don't think Bird would take him. Wants experienced players. Shaun wouldn't help now.

I'd do something like trade down.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

    Gah!! Tmac!

I remember some folks here talking about us possibly wanting Livingston a while back. I'd rather go with Jackson and Wagner at this point, but if Donnie/Larry see something special in Livingston, he'll probably be the guy we go after.

Why would a team that came as close to winning a championship as the Pacers did want to trade major parts of the team for draft picks?

If such a move is made I would be upset. That would prove to me that management didn't care about winning a championship.
"They could turn out to be only innocent mathematicians, I suppose," muttered Woevre's section officer, de Decker.

"'Only.'" Woevre was amused. "Someday you'll explain to me how that's possible. Seeing that, on the face of it, all mathematics leads, doesn't it, sooner or later, to some kind of human suffering."

For what it is worth, Sonny Vacaro said that Livingston is Magic Johnson like and a future Hall of Famer

    This from ESPN.com

Andy, Indianaopolis: Any chance the Pacers could move up to the top 10 in the draft?

ESPN Insider Chad Ford: (2:36 PM ET ) They're trying. I think that the Bulls at No. 3, the Wizards at No. 5, the Raptors at No. 8 and the Cavs at No. 10 are all possibilities. The Wizards would prefer to move out and a guy like Al Harrington would be good trade bait. If the Pacers were picking here, my guess is that Livingston would be the guy.

ESPN.COM NBA MOCK DRAFT: (2:37 PM ET ) With the 6th pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks select Shaun Livingston.

ESPN Insider Chad Ford: (2:37 PM ET ) To me, Livingston has more potential than anyone in the draft. I love him. He does things at his size that no one else can do. Patience will be the key. But honestly, I think the Hawks will be better off with Livingston than Howard in the long run.

That'd be cool if we could trade Al to the Wizards for Larry Hughes and #5 pick to use on Livingston.

Now THAT is a good move. I like that, but would Livingston being available at 5?

This sounds eerily similiar to what Joe D did last year........

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

lose in the conference finals, get a high lottery pick, and draft a project instead of a kid ready to play right away. Livingston isnt much more NBA-ready than Darko was.

Not that Im saying its a BAD move, just saying its similiar. of all the kids in the lottery, I think livingston needs the most work.

I have no idea what a typical NBA point guard can bench press, but Livingston couldn't do 185 once at the Chicago camp. He probably needs to add more than some strength......

Except they already had that pick and Dumars had nothing to do with it..

Not quite the same as trading one of your top players for the pick then drating the project.

I didnt say TRADE, I said GET. Yeah, trading would be different.

For what its worth, I think Livingston has the most raw talent of any kid in the draft. He'd be worth taking, just dont expect much from him in years 1 or 2.

By the time he gets ready physically and mentally though, he'll blow tins out of the water.

If we trade Al for a draft pick, we need to pick up a veteran SG elsewhere. The problem is, Al is our most valuable expendable commodity.

I'd like to see something like Al and #29 for Battie and #10.

Move up to get Jackson [assuming that's the guy we want] and fill a need.
