Default Indianapolis at Cleveland - Game thread - 11/30/08

(7-4) After a big win against the Chargers last week, the Colts try to continue the streak and further lock up a wild card berth.

(4-7) With Brady Quinn out for the season, the Browns hope Derek Anderson can give them the same quality play he gave them as a starter last year.

Very interesting game b/c I saw what Mr. Mcnaab did after being benched. D Anderson wants to come and show the management this is his team and he is a better QB than Brady Quinn. I have an over under on Braylon Edwards 2 drops.

Fortunately it's Cleveland or we could be down 14-3. Lackluster start.

Utterly forgettable first half. Again, if the Browns weren't so hapless this would look more dire than it does. Somebody needs to light a fire under these guys. Looks like they left their focus and motivation at home today.

The Browns aren't Detroit hapless - the Colts can lose this if they don't get their heads out of their collective butts.

3 TOs and Browns on the march...

Apparently Colts have not yet removed said body part from said body cavity.

Defense deserves some credit for this one.

Ugly - with emphasis on the Ugh. You'd hope they'd use these games against the NFL bottom-feeders to find their rhythm and get something going heading into the playoffs.

Or maybe this IS their rhythm.

The winning streak is hiding the fact that the Colts are not playing any better than they have been all season - they've just had a fortunate run against bad teams and good teams making uncharacteristic mental errors.

I think the Colts are by far the weakest of the AFC playoff teams, if they indeed make it. And considering that they usually play worse in the playoffs than in the regular season, there's no way they'll make it past the first round.

If it means playing to the approximate level of the opponent, it would make sense. The only outlier would be the Baltimore game. Otherwise, every game has been tight regardless of the quality of the other team.

I'm not sure whether that's good or bad.

It leaves you at the risk of getting eliminated in the playoffs when Vinateri misses a 29-yard FG.

Just to pull a wild, crazily improbable example out of the blue.

Well certainly our offense was not awake today. But the defense was quite good today. So I'll take that positive out of this.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Defense played very well tonight. Offense was stagnant. A win is a win though.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Dungy has restored my faith in him over the past couple of weeks. His ballsy calls helped win us that game in San Diego, and going for it on the 4th down Sunday was a good call. Unfortunately, it was just poor execution by Manning.

Get back to me when (if) we're down 2 scores or more, can't stop the run (or short passes), and treading water on offense and we'll see how he handles the in-game coaching.

Of course, in that scenario Manning will get desperate and throw the pick 6 going for the gold instead of going with Dom or Addai wide open in the flat for something close to first down yardage in his grasp.
