You are just inviting someone to suggest serving up the Murphy-Tinsley-Ford pu-pu platter!

You ask and you shall receive.

Nash needs a back up and Murphy would be a great spot-up shooter for Alvin Gentry's run n' gun.

Dumb question, but what time does the draft start? I think I have heard 7:00 but I assume that means there will be an hour of hype coverage that I don't really want to watch. Do the picks start at 8:00?

The hype coverage on ESPN runs 7:00 until 7:30 pm. Griffin to Lakers at 7:31 pm.

They appearing to be featuring Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy for draft coverage which is an upgrade.

    7:00 - Coverage begins
7:30 - Clippers pick blake griffin
7:31 - Blake Griffin trips on his way up to the stage, breaking his leg in the process in an injury reminiscent of the Shaun Livingston injury.

Chad Ford: Watch out for the Houston Rockets. Sources say they have been really active the past 24 hours, having contacted the Grizzlies, Thunder, Kings and Timberwolves about trying to get into the lottery.

It sound like virtually everyone on Houston's roster is available. Teams report that the Rockets are trying to parlay Tracy McGrady's expiring contract and Aaron Brooks' newfound celebrity status into one of Minnesota's lottery picks. Carl Landry and Shane Battier were also mentioned as possible trade pieces.

The Rockets are also among several teams that will be making a run at Amare Stoudemire. With Shaq gone, expect the Stoudemire rumors to start heating up again.

How old is Battier, he's always been one of favorite players. He's an underated winning defensive player, imo. I'd love him backing up the 3 and the 4, given the matchups.

    He'll turn 31 in September.

Shouldn't I close this? I mean we're starting to have two threads get the same or similar updates. I think this one has run its course?

Ha, it was started in November by Mel. I've grown attached to it, but I agree, it's duplication.

The closer to the draft the more uninspired I'm becoming. I have players I like, but don't see the Pacers getting them. Players that really don't interest or excite me are players that are being projected as who the Pacers will pick. I had GREAT hopes of the Pacers getting a 2nd 1st pick, by trade for the Simons are NOT going to buy one, and even possibly moving up to the 1st 7 or so spots in the 2nd round with some creative wheeling and dealing. Alas, my expectations are apparently too high which allows my having become uninspired. Too many teams trying to make too many moves in a weak draft for what I'd like to see TPTB to accomplish. I just don't see Bird/Morway getting any trades done like last year.... hopefully not from the lack of effort.

There are somethings I'm looking forward to.

    1) Seeing how MJ's involvement gets another Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison. Maybe if he listens to LB the Bobcats will end up with a decent player.

    2) What Walsh can accomplish with Dolan's deep pockets.

    3) What Portland does with all their picks.

    4) Ditto for Minnesota.

    5) Watching to see who GS drafts.

    6) Seeing where PG's Curry, Flynn, Lawson(hopefully not the Pacers), Rubio, Jennings, and Holiday end up.

    7) Wondering when Portland will trade Bayless, Frye, & #33 to the Pacers for Foster, 13th, & 52nd.

The Indiana Pacers are discussing trading point guard T.J. Ford with several teams, league sources say, including the Phoenix Suns.

How about TJ for Barbosa and one of their 2nd rounders? We draft a PG (and a PF if we do the deal with Chicago) and have our backup SG Dun insurance policy.

How about Houston trades TMac to Phoenix in exchange for Amare and Barbosa and then Houston sends us Landry and Barbosa for Ford and the 13?

I'm looking forward to later tonight! I took a vacationday to follow this like I did last year and apart from going pretty much when we moved Bayless, I still loved the whole rumours and speculation crap...

    #23 and #31?

At first glance it seems like a horrible idea but there are some legit players in that range that I like.

Calathes, even though he won't be around for at least a year, is probably going to be a very solid pro and I don't see him as any worse than Lawson, Maynor, or Flynn when it comes to overall talent. Even Maynor or Hansbrough could be there at 23, I'm convinced both of these are on Bird's list of 4.

#31 will most likely net you Jeff Adrien, who I am thrilled with.

I am trying to really lower my expectations for this draft, though. I have a feeling in 10 years when people are reading through this draft it is going to read a lot like the 2000 Draft: Bust, Bust, Bust, solid bench player, bust, bust, bust

there are much better players available at 31 than adrien IMO, although i do like adrien, hes just a more athletic version of blair with a little less effort. i could see him being a brandon bass type of player.

but i have to disagree about this being comparable to the 2000 draft. this has way more talent, and its a deeper draft than most years. i believe you can find consistant talent all the way through the middle of the 2nd round. given, this draft wont have but 1 MAYBE 2 all-stars, i think there are plenty of 10 year vets in this draft.

Edit: All-stars being Tyreke and maybe Blake. more so tyreke than blake, i believe.

Chad Ford now has us taking...

    PICK TEAM PLAYER VITALS

    Indiana

    Jrue Holiday

    Position: PG
    Height: 6-4
    Weight: 199
    Age: 18
    School: UCLA
Confidence level (if available): 60 percent

Analysis: The Pacers would feel pretty fortunate if Holiday slipped here. While they've been enamored with Ty Lawson, Eric Maynor and Tyler Hansbrough, the Pacers just can't pass on Holiday if he's still on the board. He's the type of big point guard that would be a perfect complement to T.J. Ford.
This is my best case scenario. I would absolutely adore this scenario.

If we shopped Holiday for another pick I would be ok with this. The good complement is Jarret Jack.

I really have a feeling we're taking Ty Lawson tonight. I'm not having my hopes up for Brandon Jennings, but I think it'll come down to those 2 PGs and Tyler Hansbrough.
