    Default Other SG's

    Since it no longer seems we will get TMac, which SG's do you want to be on the team next year? Which do you think we have a chance of getting? (I want Micheal Redd)

    Ray Allen is the best fit by far offensively.

    QRich is the most talented SG, though he isnt a great outside shooter.

    Jason Terry is undersized to begin with and he isnt a great defensive player anyway.

    Bonzi Wells is NOT the kind of guy I want to see hanging out with Ron Artest......

    As for Redd, unless you want to give up Artest you have zero chance of attaining him. He's the face of that franchise now.

    Richardson's a great 1 on 1 player, a career 35% 3 point shooter and would be a great fit for the team. He could put up 15-20 points a night.

    We aren't getting Allen either. Seattle wants him tehre, and he wants to stay there.
    Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

    Here's what I hate about this... my other 'top' choice was for a smaller deal in which we get Cat Mobley, but he'd be off the board, too. Perhaps we can still get in and make it a three-team deal with Cato and Mobley coming here, Franchise, Artest and Pollard to Orlando, and McGrady to Houston.

    Anybody with a calculator care to refine that one? Maybe I'm grasping at straws.

    Why does everything think Ron's the only SF/SG who plays defense, and anyone we trade for is going to suck at it?

    Richardson plays good defense.

    However, offensively he's a ron artest clone. Makes all his moves one-on-one, doesnt play well at ALL off the ball. Most of his offense comes in the paint, and his 3-point shot is as erratic as Ron's. There are too many 1-on-1 offensive players on Indiana already. They need someone to spread the floor.

    IF Ron HAS to go, let the deal involve one of these guys. Then pick up Bowen

    Who said anything about Ron?

    All I was saying about is J-Rich, i'm just not found of his defense.

    J-Rich is probably unavailable.

    Look at our history at SG/SF.

    Reggie. Jalen. Mullin. Ricky Pierce and Eddie Johnson. Chuck. John Long. Detlef. Butch Carter. Clark Kellogg. Mike Bantom. Alex English. Mickey Johnson. George McCloud.

    Outside of Derrick McKey and maybe the late Malik Sealy, there isn't even a decent defensive SG or SF since Dudley Bradley.

    Dear God no. Thus, the original 'defensive specialist'. At least Bruce Bowen can shoot unguarded three's. ed:

    Aren't you too young to remember Dudley Bradley. What if I'd have said, "Joey Hassett."?

    as for Joey Hassett, I'd probably say Ive no clue what your talking about....

    You mean, "No Pass It" Joe Hassit?
    Two=the number 2
    Too=means "also"
    To=many definitions-also known as the one to use when the other 2 (two, too) do not apply.

    Their=shows ownership-'it is their house'
    They're=they are
    There=many definitions-also known as the one to use when the other 2 (their, they're) do not apply

    Sorry but it bugs me when these are used incorrectly when I read posts on PacersDigest.com.

    Okay, that's better.

    Joey was a three-point shooting gunner. I'd call him a specialist, but that would imply a certain level of accuracy that I don't recall him having.

    Ricky Pierce couldnt guard my dog. He could probably light him up for 35 though.

    Butch Carter was great at defending his spot on the bench.

    How many games did McCloud play in Indiana, 5 or 6?

    John Long is one of my favorite Pistons. However, his defense stunk. Hence why we got rid of him and drafted Dumars.

    And there's a reason they called Person the "rifleman," not "the glove..."

    WHOA BOY! You are incredibly wrong!! ed:
    Clark Kellogg was very good before he blew his knee out. As was Ricky Pierce before he got old. Butch Carter was very tough. George McCloud was an excellent defender, at least when he was with the Pacers. John Long was as well. Person didn't suck. Even Reggie!! When he was very young he played Michael Jordan as well as anyone in the league. JOrdan got his points, but Reggie made him work Vern Fleming was one of the best in the league. Freddie is a VERY good defender and going to get better.
    Maybe you saw these guys when they were old??
    It would be hard for you to be MORE wrong.

    Oh, I don't disagree with you. My point was more that we've had a long history of guys at those postions (Vern was primarily a PG, he doesn't count) that were offensive-minded/ scorers and even the ones that could play some D weren't exactly in the top half of the guys in the league, defensively, at that postion.

    But I can't take you seriously on McCloud.

    Kstat, we were so bad in the mid-80's that Butch Carter played a lot of minutes for us and had some 40-point games along the way. And he scored all fourteen points in an overtime session once (but, if I've got the story correct, the Knicks score 15. )
