Foo Fighters- Everlong (my daughter loves the video where he pimp hand smacks the 2 guys.
Metallica- Nothing Else Matters
The Fray- Over my Head
Frightened Rabbit - State Hospital
there's this guy named Macklemore, rapper based outta Seattle. it's not exactly immensely hard hitting social commentary, but he's got a lot of stuff that some suburban white kids (well, me anyway) can relate to. he's pretty much a Youtube rapper, that's how he's known, and he's got some "hits" but they're pretty mocking if anyone listens, making fun of how easy it is to make the "party rap" stuff. then he's got some actual legitimate songs. rocking Jordans because they're a status symbol and getting rocked because you have em, pill addiction, trying to assimilate to a culture that's far from your own because you feel a need to longing for it. call it what you want, I don't know, "white guilt" if you feel the need, but it's a genuine issue.
We'll they did open with the number one album on iTunes.
For me, about 1/3 of their songs are just way too soft or off base; a good portion of The Heist was unlisten-to-able. But dude can really write, and the rest of the songs are pretty nice. He blew up with Otherside and Starting Over was one of the best hip hop tracks last year. I'm a big fan despite some of the weak production choices.
This is the darkest timeline.
I've been enjoying the entire new Taylor Swift Album "RED". I'm a fan of most music genre's even the most sugary pop. As long as its well crafted, and this album is very well crafted pop with clever lyrics and good hooks. She is a pretty good song writer.
You can't get champagne from a garden hose.
Nine Inch Nails- Down in it
A Walk Through Hell - Say Anything
Equal Vision Records released all of the early rarities Max Bemis wrote and recorded way back. Just came out today, Say Anything - All My Friends Are Enemies. Been waiting for this for awhile
Anyone else anxiously waiting for Phoenix's Bankrupt! to come out in April? I've waited three years already, so I suppose a couple more months won't hurt.
Crash Course in Brain Surgery- Metallica from Garage Days
