Default My Daughter Had Her Make a Wish Granted

My seven year old daughter with cystic fibrosis recently was awarded her make a wish from the foundation and she has chosen to go to Disney. The little girl is a Frozen addict and they have a special Frozen thing that goes on. They want to go during fall break, but I cannot go because of school having no fall break for me. I am hoping to get either spring or summer break to go for a week then but the rest of the family would prefer to go in the fall. I cannot know how many opportunities like this I will have with her and I want to be there every moment with her. Just looking for some advice.

Heck with school, go anyways. This sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I'm sure if you told your professors that you're leaving on a Make-A-Wish vacation, they'll work with you. If they don't, they deserve to be strung up by their thumbs.

If you tell your teachers the first week of class you will be fine. They were always real good about being understanding. I think its mainly due to the type of students at Ivy Tech. They understand most people there have families and work full time.

You gotta go. If your teachers don't understand, "terrible people" is the most generous way to describe them. And enjoy yourself. My grandparents live like a mile from Disney but I've never gone.

We did the Disney thing with my parents when she was three and it was during the summer during an awful heat wave down there and she ended up throwing up on the princesses shoes right when we walked in so they gave us a pass to go to the front of the lines and we used the cooling stations frequently. She was just a little too young to take it all in and hopefully this time she will enjoy it all the more. I am leaning going during Thanksgiving week since Ivy Tech is usually open Monday but closed every day after that. If I just miss one day, that Monday, maybe we can go the Friday before and stay while I am out. I am pretty sure that my teachers will understand. I might even try to manage that semester to where I don't have school on Mondays and it would be all good.

Your dedication to school is admirable, seriously.

But if the school wouldn't accommodate you for this then **** them. I am sure they will though. Go when you can, go with what works best for your daughter and family.

I think that you all are right on this one. I am going to try to set my fall schedule up where I will have Monday's off and go Thanksgiving week. If nothing else, it gets me out of going to the in-laws.
