You are one of the most underrated posters on this forum.

And if I may qualify my forty-four wins prediction: More on the road than at home. (This way I can be wrong twice!)

I was out of town all weekend, doing this without reading any other predictions.

    I keep us right at .500, 41-41.

I said 47 last year. I'm not sure what I was thinking.

I really like where the team is and where we're headed, but when I look at the schedule, I can't see us being over .500.

    40 wins.

But not averages. Averages are stupid and obscure more information that they reveal. What you want is a histogram of how many members predicted each number. Let's wait until Wednesday just before the tip-off in case others join and make a prediction.

And in qualifying my 32 prediction. We will lose a TON of close games this year. We will start unbelievably slow and pick up a lot of our wins late in the season. This will allow JOB and Larry to make sure our minutes are going to the younger guys by midseason. I also, unfortunately, think that Mike's knee is going to be very troublesome. I can foresee him not playing much this year.

No link, but I read the print edition of the Daily Herald on the train this morning and they have the Pacers in sixth place in the EC.

Clearly, they have tasted the Kool-Aid, but I didn't receive my shipment.

Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?

Everybody seems to be pretty much on the same page I think.

So much of the NBA success for average teams like we are comes down to 2 factors: injuries and luck.

If you can stay healthy as a group, you can win games thru the year that your talent level says you shouldn't, just by having your full roster on the floor when your opponents don't.

I think this team will play hard, play fairly smart, and for the most part play together. There is no question that we have a lack of talent in key areas, and that we lack a true star player.....but there will be no doubt that we have good character, and at least attempt to play the game as a unit, with one common purpose.

Character will no longer be a concern....now the hard part begins: Collecting championship level talent that you can win with.

We aren't there yet, but at least we can start the process now.

I'll give the Pacers 41 wins, and just barely squeaking into the playoffs as an 8 seed.

Well since they went 4-4 in pre-season, like that means anything, so I predict 41 wins.

Seriously, I just feel the team has better players this year, and can improve on last years season record. We'll see.

I guess I drank too much Pacer kool-aide.

I still feel this team has better players playing this year than last, unfortunately the record isn't proving this to be.

Meh. If we have a run during the second half of the season, which is far from impossible, we could conceivably reach .500.

Not likely, but not impossible, either.

My 35 is going to be spot on... it'll be like last year where we go on a run towards the end when wiser teams let themselves go into youth mode, or are resting for the playoffs and we keep struggling along with our roster of mediocre at best veterans to try and catch that "coveted" 8th seed.

If I'd have been allowed to register prior to the season I'd have said 26.

    Now I'll say 31.

Not to bum anyone out but my 30 comes with the history of saying 34 for last year, so maybe I'm shooting under by 2-3. We had a lot of "homers" in last years thread based on the high predictions.

Looking at the predictions this year it's like the rough times are slowly starting to sink in for people. To get a more realistic look consider the OKC team. Rush, Hibbert, Granger, yes they are nice. But that team has Durant, Green, Mason and Westbrook and do any of you expect 38-40 wins from them?
I'd take our lineup all day over OKC & bet your *** I'll take Granger over Durant. I don't see what he has that Danny does not besides being picked high as hell in the draft. He is good, but Jordan ended up being better than Sam Bowie. Hell, Reggie was better than allot of higher picks in his draft class.

You can understand 40 when you are 15-26.
    I think 41 & .500 is a fine choice.
    1 - 2, Tinsley's coming for you.
    3 - 4, You're not a team no more.
    5 - 6, He's gonna plead the 5th.
    7 - 8, He's gonna stay out late.

that is 16 out of 25 against "playoff" teams to kickoff the season. This could be a shaky start. Let the pessimist prevail.

Missed this the first time through, thank you LG33.

36 still seems on target. The sting this year (over last year) is that it felt like this could have been a special season.

In the interest of full disclosure, the giddiness of the draft and trades caused me to predict 45 wins in this thread:

    http://www.pacersdigest.com/apache2-...50&postcount=1

but I the reasons why I dropped it to 35 are largely explained in this post:

    http://www.pacersdigest.com/apache2-...&postcount=102

Still happier going into this season than I have been for quite some time.
Well, as long as we're bumping things...
