You could be right, but then you could be wrong. That's the way it is with young players that are described by that "P" word.

Oh, I don't know. I think you could make a pretty strong argument that he was merely a dismal failure and complete disappointment. He was, after all, only the 18th pick, and those don't have a high success rate.

I would reserve "disaster" for the top five picks that busted, because you figure the teams were counting on some big returns. Kwame Brown was a disaster. Jonathan Bender was a disaster...and so on.

I'm still hoping he has a good year with Carlisle. If not, it's just another young athletic player with "P" who couldn't make it.

For clarification, the disaster metaphor refers to Gerald's ability to play basketball...not the level of disappointment associated with his career.

count's qualification of that aspect is probably apt...Although he will at least forever have his name etched in NBA lore for Birthday Cake, which essentially makes his legacy that of a poor man's Harold Miner.

I thought we all agreed to back off on the class warfare for a while?

    Because he's really a lower-middle-class man's Harold Miner.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

McGee has a pretty good game today. He had 20 points, 8 rebs and 3 blks in 27 mins .... not bad http://www.nba.com/games/20081008/WASMEM/boxscore.html
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

What?? What channel? Man, I live in DC and it wasn't on CSN-Mid Atlantic. They usually show all the Wiz games. It wasn't on LP either.
