See what happens when you sell out!!!

Naughty Karl, if anything he has now left a stain on his career

Gary has a valid excuse, he was kicked outta Seattle via a trade before this whole thing came about.

Maybe I am getting soft in my old age, but I feel bad for Karl, not because he didn't win a championship but because he was injured and was a nonfactor in this series.

I feel the same way , really I have no hate for Karl Malone , he has done alot in his many years in the NBA , some people choose to focus on the mistakes he's made rather than his great accomplishment's.

No, I understand what you are saying UB. WHen he was at Utah Karl was my 2nd fav NBA player. But then he prostituted himself and I just never appreciated him again. But to see him in streetclothes at the probable end of his career. Bring him here as a BIG MAN coach!!!!!

I don't feel sorry for Malone or Payton at all. It's not out of spite either.

I posted a somewhat long winded and rambling reply on the Warriors board about this last night. I don't begrudge those two for taking less money to play for the "best chance" at a ring. That's their decision and I can't fault them for it (and never have). Unlike Richmond, they were contributors to their team so they weren't exactly on the gravy train. They wanted the opportunity to play for a ring, and they got the opportunity to play for a ring.

It's unfortuntate for Malone that he was injured, but so was JO, so was Tinsley, those things happen sometimes. It doesn't change the fact the Shaq seemed to be the only Laker starter who played like he really wanted to win (not counting Malone here).

Karl and Gary can try again next year. Just like Reggie Miller, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, John Stockton, and other great players have had to. I don't feel one ounce of sorrow for them.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Do I dare ask this question.

Why do you guys hate Karl Malone. If you do hate him, why?

I don't hate him, and I don't blame him for what he did in an effort to get his ring, but in the back of my mind, I will always have a mental picture of him being a sell-out trying to obtain a ring, and even worse, failing!

I guess thats why most people have a negative image of him and Payton now.

I know if I had spent the better part of 17 years cheering for him and he decided to switch teams just for one last ditch effort because he didn't believe in the team and fans that were loyal to him all those years I would probably be pissed.

But since our Hero Reggie didn't and wouldn't do that, I know I won't have to worry about it anytime soon

i dislike malone because he is dirty. And not flopping dirty. or even fouling dirty. He plays dangerously at times.

But hes been like that his whole career, and i never hated him.

    I hate him NOW.

Its hard to explain why. Part of it is him leaving Utah after so many years. A big part of it is the team he chose to go to. Part of it is him pretty much believing that going to LA w. gary guaranteed him a ring, because there is no other reason to sign for so little, so his cockiness i hate. part of it is HOW he signed with LA, with him and gary publicly teamming up (ill go to LA if he goes to) almost like 3 hall of famers isnt enough. Ill only go if the other hall of famer goes as well to FURTHER increase my chances of winning. I dont like that they did all this while the lakers admitted to not asking speaking to either player beforehand. Kupcheck didnt go after either player before this, not thinking he had a shot at signing either. I dont know why that bothers me but it does. maybe it comes off as arrogant, assuming a team would want him.

i hate him because he opted out of his contract, while saying he would ONLY play with the Lakers next year. so since obviously the ring isnt guaranteed anymore, he wants more money.

i kind of hate everyone in a Laker uniform tho. Those cocky *******s got what was long coming to them this year in the finals. They didnt just lose. They were humiliated. and watching it felt nice, so long as i ignored the fact taht it was the pistons doing it to them.
