Default J.O. Is Hungry To Get Started In Toronto

Jermaine O'Neal, one of the biggest names to change addresses this summer, is anxious to get his career started with the Raptors, according to Toronto Sun.

"We followed Jermaine's schedule this summer; some of our team personnel witnessed his progress, and we have the same wish as our fans, to see him as soon as possible," senior Vice-President of Basketball Operations Maurizio Gherardini said. "He's as hungry as can be, and he's going to have quite an impact on this team."

We've heard JO say he excited about getting the season started for the past 3 years, only to come to see him get re-injured mid-season again. Personally, I dont think hes over come his injuries. Its just not likely for a 31 year old battling the same injuries for about 4 seasons now to all of a sudden be 100% healthy

I don't expect JO to stand out in Toronto or anything, but I think he'll be productive for them.

“People talk about how quiet he [McKey] is, but he’s really been helpful. He gives a lot of insight to players in how to guard certain teams and what their weaknesses are. The whole team listens to him, and it makes my job a lot easier. Having players like him is what pro basketball is all about for me.” —Larry Brown

He'll probably be healthier this year because he's not in "I don't want to be here anymore" mode.

Nothing is certain except death, taxes and...yep, here comes the JO-talk.

Ok, ease up....maybe this is coming from his surrogate. Maybe it's just lies.......btw, I heard Bender was bulking up too....lol.

Edit: sorry JB. No harm intended...

Raptors will be fun to watch this year, as well as the Blazers.

It will definitely be interesting to see what JO and Bayless do this year.

I think it will be more interesting to see what the PACERS do this year.

I doubt that Larry Bird is going to want to see what Bayless does this year.

I dont think Bayless will be as effective as he was in the summer league. He tore the summer league up because he was playing against scrubs.

I'm not sure Bayless will get much PT this year. We'll see.

I dont think so either. With Roy and Fernandez playing most of the SG mins, Outlaw and Webster will take most of the SF mins (Bayless cant even play SF so I dont know why Im even taking about this), and their main PG is Blake (unless Fernandez can play some PG). The mins that Bayless will see will most likely come from the PG spot, and hes not even a real PG

Edit: I forgot to mention Rodriguez, but I think Bayless is better than him

Bayless is not a pure PG, but I still think he could be better than Blake at that spot.

Maybe, maybe not. What he's really needed to do (and hadn't done until this year) is shut it down for a majority of the season.

I think he was stupid to come back, even though he knew he'd be dealt this summer. If I was him, I'd have stayed out and rehabbed the knee. But the dude wants to play, and I respect that.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

You are just an easy target when it comes to Bayless talk.

I am willing to bet that if the Pacers play well this year and JO/Tins/Ike/Bayless play well we will still hear it on this board.

I skimmed over the article, I was surprised to see no mention of JO being a team player, who is 100% healthy and will dominate.

Plus was there no Brawl mention?? Very disappointing. Canadian press, meh!
