As a Mavs fan, the first thing that comes to my mind.... give him to you for Dunleavy.

Um, yeah. Cross him off my list of potential Pacers.

I mean, I'm sure my cousin National didn't get his feelings hurt... he's pretty thick-skinned (as are all of we Anthems). But that's just a stupid thing to say in public. There's an internet now; he'll never live that down. Sportswriters will be bringing it up 10 years from now.

    Epic fail.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

The Mavericks can really use Tinsley they lost Devin Harris to NJ
Jason Kidd & Terry are getting old. Let's move him and some other pieces for Josh Howard.

In a video posted on YouTube, the swingman is shown at Allen Iverson's charity flag football game in July. When the national anthem is being sung, various participants are shown mugging for the camera. When the camera gets to Howard, he says: " 'The Star-Spangled Banner' is going on. I don't celebrate this [expletive]. I'm black."
Wow. Yeah, I don't want this guy around.

Too bad Avery is not the coach anymore. Cause Josh needs this to happen.

Wow....Josh Howard is a PR Nightmare waiting to happen. He's a classic example of an athelete that doesn't appreciate what he's been given and remembers how he got to where he is now.

I can't tell if you are kidding or are serious?

If you are not kidding could you at least explain why we would possibly need a player who plays a position that we are already set at? On top of the issue that right now the Pacers need nothing to do with anyone who would bring any kind of off court distractions.

Howard is a good player, no doubt. However he is not that much better than Granger and certainly not worth the baggage he would bring to the table.

I worked out a trade and put it in our trade section
I was thinking along the lines of moving Tinsley, Williams, & Murphy

    For Josh Howard/ E Dampier.

Williams is a full time smoker. Howard is an occasional smoker.

Josh Howard plays the 2 and Danny Granger at 3. Howard would provide something our team lacks the ability to drive the ball to the hoop.

Dunleavy is the odd man out but has the right attitude to play on the bench.

You do not think this is an upgrade plus we don have to cut anybody Mc Roberts/Maceo b/c we have 15 on the roster.

At this point he's certainly not worth the baggage.

From a strictly on-court perspective, though, Howard would be a great addition to the team. He and Danny would make an excellent 2-3 combo on the perimeter.

Howard is only considered "Baggage" in Indiana because of our recent past. Him disrespecting the National Anthem wouldn't have kept anyone from wanting him on this team in the Pre-Artest era. Of course that's just my opinion.

I don't know. Personally, I find it to be a rather big turn-off as a potential fan.

Yes, 5 years ago he would be headed to Indy. We were obviously a magnet for attitude players for awhile. Of course that has changed and there's zero chance he comes to Indy...unless of course Tinman becomes a Mav and there is some financial reason...

True, but I think fans tend to have short memories. Let Howard go out there and score 20 points 3 games in a row and play some hard nosed defense and watch all the past drama of his disappear. I'm not defending him in any way. I'm just saying...

Stupid thing to do? Yes. Big deal? No. He said what he did to be funny for the camera - must be a slow offseason.

I agree. Next thing you know, Josh Howard will be labeled un-American, Muslim and a terrorist. This reminds me of when I got threatened with suspension in public high school because I didn't stand for the pledge of allegiance.

I don't want Josh Howard on the Pacers because a.) we couldn't afford the PR-disaster b.) he seems like an idiot c.) he doesn't seem to care about his career - he's jeopardized it with his mouth twice now. I still think he's a damn good player though.

Then you must adore Dick Cheney.

The fact that anyone would get upset, or care in the least, about an offhand joke at a flag football game is ridiculous. It was a joke meant between friends, not a political statement.

I make jokes more offensive than that with my mom.

Reagrdless of it being a joke or not, it was a very stupid thing to say, and disrespectful to say the least.

Especially if you are at a charity event.

He's an idiot, and there's no way in hell I would want him on any team I support in any way.
