Thread: HEAT adding Magloire

    Default HEAT adding Magloire

Looks like the HEAT is adding Jamal Magloire to their roster:

Any chance this makes Haslem even more expendable, with hopes to push a Tinsley trade through? Or did the HEAT already replace Jason Williams? I haven't been keeping tabs on them lately.

"Best D_C Impression" NO NOBODY WANTS TINSLEY.

Anyways I sure hope so I wouldn't mind Haslem.

Yeah...if not for the fact that when we play Toronto, Haslem and JO can duke it

    J-Will is gone.

rookie Mario Chalmers and Chris Quinn are the point guards.

I don't think Haslem is expendable, even with Beasley, Magliore, and the the poo-poo platter of Blount, Joel Anthony, and (maybe) a banged-up Mourning by mid-season

Quinn has been offered a million dollar qualifer and hasn't signed it yet.

Riley has stated the PG job is Banks to lose with the team as is.

I swear, it seems like everytime the wind blows, that's cause for hope that someone is going to all of a sudden want Tinsley more.

There is always a chance Tinsley gets traded. But he won't get traded straight up for a guy with a shorter contract, regardless of whether that guy is a useful player or not (and Haslem is useful).

If you want to deal Tinsley straight up, get ready for something like Boris Diaw coming back the other way.

Either that or Tinsley is part of a much larger trade package where he's not the focal point of the trade and taking on his deal is just part of the price the other team has to pay to get the deal done.

I never said I thought Tinsley could be traded straight up. Sorry if I made it sound like that. I know if we are able to trade him, it will be part of a package deal that includes some sweetener on our end and some floating turds on the other end. I was just hoping, maybe Magloire's acquisition would help close the sweetener/turd gap just a bit and make it easier for Larry to pull the trigger.

The Heat would rather have Haslem over Tinsley simply for the fact that Haslem's contract expires in the summer of 2010 and Tinsley's doesn't.

The Heat acquiring Magloire doesn't change that. In fact, the only guy besides Beasley who will have a contract running past summer 2010 is Marcus Banks, who makes less money than Tinsley.

The only thing remotely possible is something like Haslem/Banks for Foster/Tinsley, but even then, it's not like the Heat would have absolutely have to do that deal. The bottom line is their need to get rid of Haslem is far, far smaller than the Pacers need to get rid of Tinsley.

The Heat continue to explore other options to supplement career backup Marcus Banks and rookie Mario Chalmers at the (PG) position...

The Heat might also take the reclamation approach at point guard. Miami was among teams recently in Chicago to view a workout by free agent Shaun Livingston.

    Hey, Jamaal needs a reclamation.
