    Default All-time Pacers team

I know this has probably been done before (infact its probably been done more than once) but anyway I'd like some opinions on an all-time Pacers team.

Now I've only watch the Pacers play since '93 so I have 26 years of Pacer players that I only know about through almanacs and websites, so i'd really like some input from my fellow pacersdigestinites (or whatever we are) who have more Pacers wisdom. Not saying this topic is just for them, I'd like any one's opinion.

    15 man team.

As for now I have the ones who most would consider obvious choices:

    Coach: Bob "Slick" Leonard

    Mel Daniels

    Roger Brown

    George McGinnis

    Reggie Miller

Some who I'm pretty sure most will agree on:

    Freddie Lewis

    Bob Netolicky

    Billy Knight

Some who are possibilites but definetely argueable:

    Jermaine O'Neal

    Rik Smits

(if only Clark Kellogg didn't have his injury problems)

Not quite a 15 man team yet and I'm sure there'll be some difference of opinion, but thats why I ask.

Thank you very much in advance.

He's yet to suit up for the team, so he doesn't count yet. I still have hope for Erazam Lorbek as well.

Just imagine what Scott Haskin could of been.

I made a team in NBA 2k8 that had all currently playing current and former pacers players. It was damn good.

Two who would have to be included; R. Artest, D. Schrempf. Others for serious consideration; D. McKey, W.Tisdale, D. Hillman, D. Roundfield.

I'd also note that even though Byron Scott wasn't with us long, his impact as a Pacer is immeasurable. I believe he truly instilled in us winning confidence in the playoffs, and added a voice of one that had been there before. So I'd add him as well.

Pretty good, but I'm going with 3 at each position.

    C) Mel, Rik, Dale
    PF) Big Mac, JO, Neto
    SF) Roger, Derrick, Chuck
    SG) Miller, Knight, Granger
    PG) Mark, Buse, Lewis

No to Keller, I like Rick Mount better.

You realize that he only played 2 years as a Pacer, and was fairly ordinary as a pro (in part due to a knee injury). He was great in college, but Billy K was the better pro and a Pacer for 7 seasons.

I can see leaving Billy off a top 15 team, but in Pacer history he is way way above the Rocket.

As for 3 per position, I'll move Jermaine to C just to tick him off, and have Vern at SG.

Only one I don't see listed in Antonio Davis, always one of my favorites, but probably doesn't belong here. Now if we start the most annoying wife's of pacers players, Kendra has to be second the crazy Neto's wife.

I like this list...I would leave off Det because he wasn't here long, I would add Billy Knight and take off Vern. Derrick? I don't know...

Do you think Chuck Person is hands down a better player than Jalen Rose?

On an All-Time list? I don't think he did enough to merit that. Is there any sort of "minimum seasons played" consideration for this question? Someone mentioned above that Detlef didn't deserve to be on the list due to not being here very long. But if we're talking All-Time Pacers, I have to take into consideration the impact they had on the franchise while they were here.

Yeah, I would say so. Boy, when Chuck got it going, he could put up points with the best of them. One thing that used to get on my nerves about Jalen was this thing about him being such a great 4th quarter scorer. There would be so many games where Jalen would put up a lot of points when the game was already decided. How many times did Slick or Mark say, "Sure would've liked to have seen that earlier in the game." In any event, I liked Jalen while he was here, but I think Chuck in his prime was the better player. Both of them were inconsistent as heck.

That's a pretty good team. I've always had problems leaving Keller off these teams because I remember what he meant. I would also have to find a place for Dale Davis. Even though I wouldn't put Scott on the all-time team very few players that ever came through had as much as an impact as he did.

Yeah, Keller and Fleming are hurt by the quality of guards we have had. Johnny Davis, too. Dale is also hurt by the quality of PFs - none of them played as "hard" as DD did, but of course they all had substantially more talent than he had. Yes, he was a warrior, and set the tone for the 1990s Pacers teams, but you still didn't want the ball in his hands, ever.

Byron Scott - not enough time here. But he did more for this franchise in just two years than anyone except for the four guys with retired numbers and perhaps the way Chuck single-handedly raised the team from 20-some wins to the playoffs.

Jalen and Artest have the same issue - thier "peak" seasons deserve some recognition, but I wouldn't take Reggie, Rahjah, Chuck or Billy off the list for them.
