No - he has a good intiutive sense as to what is going on, but he doesn't explain the nuts and bolts of it very well.

I voted no. He is to busy working on his golf game.

The only way I could see him working out is a team like the Pacers that Larry Bird inherited filled with vets who know their role.

No. Better as a PR/ face guy.

I don't see any reason to get his occasional straight talk/ ridiculousness out of the broadcast booth.

Beyond being somebody who knows the game a coach is a advocate for their team. I could see Chuck as a a great advocate for his team; He would be the Lou Pinella of basketball. If he had a couple of good assistant coaches to help learn to coaching angle he would be great.

I said yes. The challenge is always if the great players of the past could relate to the players of today. I think he's a bit straight forward, but I think he'd do fine. If for nothing else, it would be worth it to watch Dick Bevetta games.

No, players and their egos are way too fragile.

You would have to have players with extremely thick skin for them to want to play under him.

Coaching is much more than just knowing the game, a lot of it is having the ability to manage people, and Chuck doesn't have the personality for it.

Chuck doesn't have the personality for it? I don't know about that. Look at Ozzie Guillen. I could see Chuck as a basketball version of that.

Maybe as an Assistant coach. . him running a team. He's too Open Minded and a straight up Ish talker, player wouldn't want to listen to him, cause he might say the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Chuck is right where he needs to be. He's an entertainer through and through. I love watching him, Ernie and Kenny crack each other up.

No reason to even vote because he will never he a head coach with his affinity for gambling.

    Good point.

Has Charles ever said he wants to coach? I don't think he has the temperament or the patience for it.

He is a much better clown than coach. He's the George Foreman of the NBA and should stick to that schtick.

Nope. Could be a good assistant though.

I'd love to have him as an occasional color commentator instead of just a studio analyst.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Absolutely not. He's personality and wise cracks but he's not a coach.

I think he is excellent in his current role. He should stick to what he is doing great at.
