Default For those new first year fantasy players in PD KL2

This is just for the first year players.

I've been attempting to send out e-mails with a couple of files attached. I'm not totally sure the excel file is getting thru correctly so I've managed to transfer the data over to word & I was able to e-mail the file to myself. So, if you got the e-mail but had trouble with the file, let me know & I can re-send it.

    Thanks

The e-mails I've sent are for the guys that have not played on Sports.ws before.

The first details how a lineup is set & scored.

The 2nd is just player stats from last season.

I think you should have a pretty good handle on how things run. The first year guys are going in blind, I'm just trying to level the playing field so they don't get pounded by the vets.

I'll tell you what I told them.

The first year we had some guys that drafted real bad. Their teams sucked & they had no way to get better. They soon lost interest & bailed out on their teams & the league suffered because of it.

The key is to get everyone, especially the new guys, as prepared as possible. That helps assure they draft a good team & are competitive. It makes their team & our league stronger.

To throw more mud on this, it is for the new keeper league. We have 10 posters that have never played on Sports.ws before.

The ABA will not have any first year players this year, nothing but hard core seasoned vets.

Thanks for going through all this trouble, Jose!

... although now I have no excuse once draft day comes around and I bungle it completely.

You were 13 games over .500 last season, I think you have a pretty good handle on what your're doing.

thx.. I appreciate you workin with us noobs to fantasy league.. It would be REALLY helpful if you could point me in the direction of what I need to be doing as far as figuring things out.. I mean i have read rules and etc.. I am still just confused on what teams we are assigned or if we pick out of what is left.. or what... a brief synopsis of what WE as new players need to do to get the ball rolling would be nice.. and maybe something pointing us in the right direction.. I am so confused lol..

    thx james

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

Its really not all that complicated.

Once I create the league, I'll send out the league name, number & password so only those signed up to play will be able to join.

You will sign up with Sports.ws, join the league & create your team. You will be able to name your team anything you like & add team colors.

Once the league is full I will put a vote up that will grant the commissioner extra powers. This is very important because it will allow me to log on as any team owner & draft for that person, should something happen. I can also step in after the draft & take control of a team should an owner bail out on the league.

After the vote passes we can begin the draft.

Each team owner will, in turn, select any player they wish, from a list of NBA players.

You build your team, player by player, thru this draft. We each select 12 players.

    Thats pretty much it.

This is the first year for this league so everyone starts out from square 1.

The site will have a list of all the players you can select from. They divide them into the 3 main catagories: gaurds, forwards & centers.

There is also a contengency list feature where, if you are going to be away from your computer you can create a list of players you would like to select should your pick come up while your away.

You simply highlight the players name, click, "add to list", then "save list".

This is all explained on the site.

Plus, the plan is to have a 24 hour draft clock. That means if you select right after me, once I make my pick, you will have up to 24 hours to make yours.

The entire draft order will be posted so you will know well in advance you have a pick coming up. That, along with the contingency list should mean that you will never take anywhere near 24 hours to make a pick.

In the past a 24 team league has completed a draft like this in well under 2 weeks. We have about 2 months before the NBA season begins so we will have more than enough time to finish our draft.

I hope that helps. If your still not clear on something, let me know.

    Thanks
