    Default Is it time?

With the excitement and positive buzz heading into next season, along with a sense of a fresh start, a new beginning, I'm thinking now is the time to bring the FloJos back as our retro jersey for 2009. That would be fun to see.

It still feels a little premature to me. Let's get a real identity first.

I would wait until we've had a couple of winning seasons and use the flojos to boost an already existing buzz.

    I agree.

But man, I can't wait to see those jerseys again someday. The flojos are by far the best Pacer jerseys. I really haven't liked either of the designs since.

I like them both, but I really think we should wear the home unis as our throwback.

The Pacers have been (relatively) successful in just about every year with the Flojos. So, yes a team has to be "worthy" to wear them IMHO, I don't want the 'jos desecrated.

You're right, just about every year. But I would think that this year is better than any to rekindle anything that resembles winning in the sense of motivation. Both for the players and the fans.

No, hold off on the Flo Jo's. Save the best for a really good team.

I don't get why teams try to use new retros every season. Why not get full use out of them and use them for two or three seasons? Would anyone seriously object to that?

I mean the Pacers are going to run out of retros to use pretty soon. We've got maybe one more design from the '70s I think, the Flo Jo's, then the Pinstripes. And we gave the Pinstripes up only 3 years ago.

The pinstripes are just too busy IMHO.

And with the rest of the retros, they're fun to bring out on a regular basis. I actually like the pre Flo-Jo jersey (the one they had, I think, when Reggie was a rookie) and wouldn't mind seeing that brought out every year.

You have a good point. I say let the season play out a bit and then see what happens. If we're pretty good but we're overlooked by the media and other teams (which is inevitable if we are good IMHO) it could be appropriate to bring them out. I mean, a lot of those Flo Jo teams were underdogs.

Excatly. My dad told me what the word underdog meant during those years because I kept hearing that word on TV when it came to things about the team. I do think it would be a great motivator. B.Rush said he wants to be like Reggie? Make him look like Reggie.

I think the best looking jerseys were probably the ones right before the Flo Jo's. Post Flo Jo's everything has been ugly, the most recent ones especially are incredibly forgettable in my eyes and I am hoping we don't have to suffer with those for more than 5-7 years.

I think the obsession with Flo Jo's has to do as much with the success of some of those teams more than the look of the jerseys themselves. Yes, we were good with the pinstripes too, but those were inexcusably hideous.

For a few years running, the pinstripes were the best uniforms of the NBA per popular vote.

Let me see if I can find something.

Can't we just go back to these or the pinstripes? I like both of them better than our current design. I don't know why we tried to fix something that wasn't broke.

    Dressed for Success: Pacers Win

We know which uniforms the fans are buying. So we wanted to know which ones you thought looked the best. And after two rounds of voting, you said the Indiana Pacers have the best uniforms in the game. Thanks very much for voting and have a happy holidays!

    Atlantic: Philadelphia 76ers
The answer in the Atlantic? Turns out that Iverson and the Sixers' star-spangled uniforms are the most coveted duds in the division.

    Central: Indiana Pacers
Jamaal Tinsley and company eked out a win over LeBron and the Cavaliers in the Central and pushed their pin-stripes into the final round of voting.

    Southeast: Miami Heat
Shaq is back in Florida and helped lead the Heat to a Southeast win over their in-state neighbors and a first-year franchise.

    Southwest: Houston Rockets
The T-Mac-Yao combo proved to be too much for the rest of the Southwest Division. Memphis edged out the other two Texas teams (the Mavs and Spurs) for second place.

    Northwest: Denver Nuggets
What do you get when you combine a stellar soph' and some sweet, new sky-blue unis? The Nuggets repping the Northwest in the final round of voting.

    Pacific: Los Angeles Lakers
Despite sitting third in the division standings, he Lakers' classic purple-and-gold unis won the Pacific in a landslide and went through to the final round.

    Final Voting Results

    Indiana Pacers: 25%

    Denver Nuggets: 20%

    L.A. Lakers: 17%

    Philadelphia 76ers: 13%

    Houston Rockets: 13%

    Miami Heat: 12%

    Total Responses: 40,769

    Voting Schedule

    Dec. 9: Atlantic Division

    Dec. 10: Central Division

    Dec. 13: Southeast Division

    Dec. 14: Southwest Division

    Dec. 15: Northwest Division

    Dec. 16: Pacific Division

Dec. 17-21: Runoff between six division winners

    Dec. 22: Overall champion announced

I mean, I can understand that, at the time, they were decent.

But as time has moved on and tastes have changed they just get uglier to me. They fit the fashions of the time well enough, but they really weren't equipped to be "classic" like the Flojos, IMHO of course.

Best unis right now? I think Miami's are slick without being overdone. Same with both LA teams.

I've hated every Toronto uniform, and honestly I think Houston's rank among the worst IMHO.

I think the FloJo's were the best looking basketball uniforms, ever. For any team.

I think the Pacers should still be wearing those just like the Lakers, Bulls and Celtics don't really alter their look, either.

Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea for the Pacers Marketing department to roll out a new set of jerseys so that the Pacers have a new look to symbolize the new direction that they are trying to take. I think of it as a team "reborn" with a new look so that fans have something new to associate with.

Gotta give the league the new uniforms 12 months before you use them. Since we just changed - not that long ago - I doubt that has taken place.

Toronto, Miami, and LAL all have the same uniform basically, and it is tasteless. Each team no matter what should have their own unique uniform.

The yellow alternates were great. Especially these new ones. The only downside is that you can see the players' back sweat way too easily.
