I'm more enthralled with #11 on the court saying "Ford" instead of "Tinsley".

I see us taking either two bigs, or a big and a swingman tomorrow if this trade really happens.

Two bigs would be great. Can we start a new thread on this?
Too much stuff to wade through plus this is a big deal.

TJ, MJD, Gift, Troy and Foster are gonna be a defensive force in this league.

Speights and Ajinca or Speights and Lee will be fine.

I sure hope Bird doesn’t think TJ Ford is the answer to anything – he’s only marginally better than Diener. The ‘value’ in the trade described in the article is the 17th draft pick, not TJF. Here’s a look at Ford and Diener 2007/08 stats:

    Games: 51 (Games Stated: 26)
    MPG: 23.5 (lifetime 29.5)
    FG%: 46.9% (3-pt. 29.4%)
    Rebounds: 4.4 pg
    Assists: 6.1 pg
    Turnovers: 2.0 pg
    Steals: 1.1 pg
    Assists+Steals-TO’s: 5.2 pg

Here's the same info for Diener.:
    Games: 66 (Games Stated: 21)
    MPG: 20.5
    FG%: 37.0% (3-pt. 31.8%)
    Rebounds: 1.7 pg
    Assists: 3.8 pg
    Turnovers: 0.83 pg
    Steals: 0.53 pg
    Assists+Steals-TO’s: 3.5 pg

I like the way Speights sounds when he talks.

That's the way I look at it. With the way our trades have went lately, I was prepared for worse.
Right, it could have been for JO+11 for Zack Randolph and Jared Jeffries.

I really like the Tor/Ind deal, and it will be nice to finally... move on I guess.

if this deal actually goes down, all i can say is FINALLY!!!!!! i've been preaching for the past 3yrs that we needed to trade jo, even to the point where i was laughed at persistantly for my opinion (go figure right? me getting laughed at? NEVER ;-) ). now we'll need to capitalize on these draft picks of ours.

That's a pretty decent trade... picks at 11 and 17.

Bird mentioned he could get 2 point guards via the trade, I wonder who #2 was\is.
I heard possibly Foster for Barbosa, but as far as I know that's just talk.

    This is good.

I have just one thought. Anytime TJ Ford goes up for a contested dunk, can we fine him for conduct detrimental to the Pacers? He'll be more than OK if he avoids any hard falls.
And I won't be here to see the day
It all dries up and blows away
I'd hang around just to see
But they never had much use for me

This trade is only good if Jermaine never gets healthy again. Otherwise the drop in talent is quite large.

    Wow man just wow...
    I can't believe this.
What about ppg? Or did you just forget to put that in there so your comparison looks better? It still doesnt make it better!

Even without the PPG, its pretty clear to me that TJ is WAY better. 10% better in FG? almost 2 more A,S-T, 2+ more assist per game, and 3 more rebounds?
Just who are you trying to convince?

[edit] maybe my sarcasm meter is broken... or were you really serious?

Baby steps. We just needed a PG PERIOD first. Let's get some more pieces in the draft tomorrow, then through the next 12 months worry about improving the defense.

I hope not. The only way they're "marginal" is if it's not unusual for someone to average 100 assists, rebounds, steals, etc.

does anyone think we could possibly [i mean like even a slim chance] of packaging the 17th pick with maybe tinsley and moving up anywhere closer to the 11th?

no. but if a team like say cleveland desperately wanted a PG we could possibly package #11 and Tinsley for Snow and #19. i can't see us moving up unless we include both picks (and even then...)

    Riley wants a PG. #11+#17+Tinsley = #2?
