    Default Trade with Denver

Denver is looking for a pass first PG to replace Carter as AI is really a small SG and it's being reported that Denver is open to trading Camby...

Tinsley and Foster and our 2nd rounder (#41) for Camby and their 1st rounder (#20)

That won't work salary wise. But if they'll take Ike instead of Foster it would. I would take that in a heartbeat! Najera isn't likely to return so they need another backup PF. Not sure they would though because unless they expect Nene to play 75+ games next year that would leave them thin at C. Maybe they would want Harrison instead?

ESPN has Camby's salary at 11.25 mil. Hoopshype has it at 10 this year, 8 for the 08/09 season.

The trade works via ESPN's trade machine and RealGM's.

The only way they take on Tinsley is if we take on Nene's huge contract, IMO.

I'd rather have Nene than Tinsley any day of the week.

If the dude's healthy, he could be a 15-10 guy who plays good defense and shoots 50+%.

I would too, I just don't think we would take on a 40 million dollar contract right now. And he's had more serious injury problems than JO. If he didn't work out it would be a disaster.

They must be basing it on this year's salaries. Foster & Tins will make $12.9 mil next year while Camby makes $8 mil according to hoopshype. The max Denver would be able to take back would be $10.1 mil ($8 mil x 125% + $100,000). I guess they could give us the difference in cash unless they throw in Chucky Atkins.

I would do that, especially if we can get Westbrook at #11 and then R. Lopez with the #20. As I said before though, not sure they would unless they think Nene is cured.

Oh, and no thanks on Nene. The "if he's healthy..." line has worn out it's welcome with me.

I really like some variation of that trade. There are only a few teams that I think we could trade Tinsley to. Denver, Miami (assuming they get beasley), LAC, and possibly CLE. I could see him blending in in NYC, but doubt that DW would consider him.

I wish we would just buy him out. That gives the team more flexibility. Thats attractive to Tinsley cause he gets to choose where he goes and he can make a name for himself somewhere else.

I would be ok with that, Camby would do well here, especially if we keep JO. That would be a nice defensive twin towers.

No, it doesn't. Why do people keep saying this? It's crazy. It gives the Pacers significantly LESS flexibility in terms of salary. We still pay him and he counts against the cap until his contract would have ended. That doesn't give us ANYTHING.

The only flexibility it gives is an extra roster spot. Because what would we do without our 15th man?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I agree they are definately better off just sitting him on the end of the bench or better yet home.

We are just going to have to wait it out, IMO. He's got three years left, after next year it will start getting easier to move him. I think Jamal is going to realize real soon if he wants another descent contract he has to earn it over the next few years.

We should bring in a new starter and make it clear he has to earn his way to the back-up spot. If he can't do that, go with Diener, if he can then we have a talented back-up PG.

and if Tinsley is healthy he could put up 15 points, 10 ast, and 6 rebs.

Tinsley has had repeated minor injuries which have derailed him at some point during nearly every one of his 6 seasons.

Nene has had one major knee injury and then was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

I understand the point your trying to make, but I don't think they're in the same ball park.

    Plus, Tinsley is a headcase.

thats true. JO and Camby would be a great threat together. The trade would work perfect http://realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4583365 if we could swap our 2nd rounder and their first rounder also, that would be perfect, we would hopefully pickup a guy like HIbert who is projected to go very late in the first round now

Y'all are mad undervaluing Marcus. He was DPOY last year. Denver would have to at least get a expiring great three point shooter back.

Would you take Reggie or Nick Van Exel?

Maybe we could work something out with NJ and you could get Van Horn too?

Why would you need an expiring 3PT shooter? You got JR Smith, whose a stud, right?

I love this deal for the Pacers the odds of Denver giving up Camby & a first rounder for Tinsley & Foster is great but not a reality. Nene is more realistic and I would love to have Nene. I know he has an injury history but we get rid of Tinsley.

Why would we give up one injury prone, overpaid player for one that is injury prone and even more overpaid?

I want to get rid of Tins as much as anyone, but not at that price. I would rather trade him straight up for a scrub (Brian Cardinal, Mike James, Jerome James) that's making equal money before I did a deal for Nene.
