    Default Forum Question.

Within in the last 2 weeks I started a online community forum for the town I live in outside of Dallas. I am curious to know the best way to advertise this in the public to get the word out so members start to join. Any thoughts on what I should do?

    Here is the website

The link didn't work for me.

You say it's for the town you live near, so perhaps an advertisement in your local paper would get some attention? See if your local library will let you advertise? And of course tell your friends and see if they can mention it to their other friends.

What are the main ways that news travels in your area?

I would say that a story in the local paper would help wonders. If there is a free local bi-weekly, hit that one too. There are usually public internet access terminals at the local library, so Mal is right on with that suggestion.

You might go through some civic organizations or the local Chamber of Commerce to hit the movers and shakers and let it trickle down from there.

Any internet cafes in the area? A local college or university? Is there some kind of listing for all the churches in the area?

Our local supermarkets and a few local restaurants have a corkboard by the entrance door for advertising flyers...you might try those as well...

It being close to the primary election, letting a few of the local candidates know about it wouldn't hurt either. If they are going to be attending any candidate forums or other gatherings where they will be speaking, most will love the opportunity to spout about some new technology...

Last suggestion would be the parent-teacher organization at the local school corporation(s)....

    Good luck!
