    Default Katie is coming home

    Katie Douglas is coming home.

The Indiana Fever today will announce that Douglas, an All-Star guard and Indianapolis native, has been acquired from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for forward Tamika Whitmore and the Fever's first-round draft pick.
The trade was reported Monday night on TheDay.com, a Web site in Connecticut, citing WNBA sources. The report was confirmed by a source in the Fever organization.
The transaction is one of the most consequential in Fever history, perhaps exceeded only by the selection of Tamika Catchings in the 2002 WNBA draft.
Douglas, 28, averaged 17.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists last season and was a second-team All-WNBA guard. She was a first-team pick in 2006.
Douglas, a graduate of Purdue and Perry Meridian High School, had sought a trade to Indiana so she could be closer to family.
Whitmore, 30, a nine-year veteran, averaged 10.9 points for the Fever last season.

this isn't gonna be popular amongst the bloated, Viking tattooed women's community of Fever fans

    should help the team though

Come quietly or there will be... trouble.

Holy crap. I can't believe Connecticut gave her up for that. A 30 year old WNBA player is like a 36 year old NBA player.

This puts a wrench in my "not watching the team while Dunn is coach" plan.

Never in my life had I gone out of my way to see a girl play basketball except for when we went to see her at Perry Meridian.

Holy crap the Fever are going to end up averaging higher per game attendance than the Pacers. Personally I think we should give serious consideration to getting season tickets again. Since I'm going for my pre-employment physical tomorrow I'll just ask for the Scuzzy Cotton Candy Guy vaccine along with my PPD.

I think that's a great trade. It's even on both sides, and I think it will make a big difference for the Fever.

We gave up Tamika Whitmore, and I think, a player currently in Australia and the #12 pick. We don't have to worry about Catchings rushing back now. I'm not a WNBA expert, but I think this makes them contenders.

The cool thing is that I didn't use 3 of my Pacers' tickets. I'm going to opening night! Very excite!

I didn't watch very many Fever games, but those I did manage to catch impressed me especially down the stretch when they made yet another post-season run. Witmore struck me as a very scrappy player, someone who will tough it out when the chips are down. The Fever will miss not having her grit on the floor, but acquiring Katie was huge considering the lose of Anna DeForge to the Lynx.

Still, if the Fever want to win it all this year they need to find themselves another "clean up woman". Without Whitmore to do most of the dirty work they may find themselves in trouble.
