Default Just an idea...should we have a PD awards show for the players as well?

Just got to thinking...we have spent the last few years doling out awards to posters...don't you think it would be a good idea to do team awards as well?

I figured it would be neat from year to year to see what everyone's opinions were of each player as the years go by, and which pacers got the most accolades from the people that follow the team.

I figure we could possibly do this between when the season ends and the PD poster awards begin.

My suggestions, although I'm sure there might be some good categories I could be missing.

    Team MVP
    Most improved player
    defensive player of the year
    newcomer of the year
    Biggest disappointment
    Reggie Miller award (favorite pacer)

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Id think it would be pacers-only...because we usually dont give awards to the people who post on realgm..or other sites.

But an NBA wide version would be nice also.

I think it's a good idea. We PREDICT some of those awards at the start of the year, but we never do it after the season's mostly over.

I think that's a good idea as well. NCAA has pre-season awards, it's been done before.

Something regarding maybe a position on the team that needs improvment.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Don't you mean Flip Murray? Travis' assist:turnover ratio is one of the best in the league. I don't understand...

I'd only be in interested in league-wide vote...I don't care so much about the Danny vs. Mike Pacers MVP debate as the Kobe vs. CP3 League MVP debate. I think it says a lot about you as a fan who you think is the league MVP.

The NBA gives out its own awards. There are no team-specific awards, which is mostly the point of this.

The MDJ vs Granger discussion is actually somewhat interesting to me.

    It's an impossible vote.

No matter who you think should win, it's gonna be tough for CP3 given that voters are gonna instinctually factor in the whole "life-time achievement" thing since Mamba's never won one (which is indeed a borderline travesty). Then again, people hate him. So maybe those will even out.

I hate this. To this day, I curse the lifetime achievement awards ever since Tom Hanks got ROBBED of an oscar for Cast Away in 2000 because they had to give Russell Crowe an oscar since they screwed up the year before with insider. Just because Kobe should have gotten the MVP instead of Nash in 2006 doesn't mean that he should get it this year. Just...bleh. Oh well, maybe CP3 will get a make-up MVP in a future year when, say, LeBron deserves it.
