I can only imagine how drunk you two would be by the time you stumbled out of lunch at Hooters.
I only drink at home. And NEVER before 8 or 9 in the evening. Not good to suddenly get a call from a client wanting to see a house and you have booze on your breath. Not good for you, your client, or your arresting officer.

    I understand.

    Agreed.

And one day those crazy black lost stretches of time (before 8pm) spent with Spicoli will snap back into place.

    I'm sure they will.

I generally try not to drink before 9am. Although sometimes if I'm on the golf course, that rule gets obliterated.

Or if I'm in a duck blind at 5:30am, a little snort of a good bourbon will be a good way to start the day.

Ok I really just made up that 9am rule.

Is there anything better than the sight of that little jut of fire that comes out the end of a shotgun barrel when fired by a few people in unison right at dawn as the ducks are flying overhead?

    I don't think so.

But that doesn't mean there isn't a beer on the lips once that first sucker hits the water.

I kind of came up hunting ducks and pheasants and quail and loved it. But I got bit hard by the deer bug years ago and I just can't shake it (don't want to)

But I get what you're saying.

When those babies lock their wings and slide in to the decoys it's a sight.

I can picture the dog vibrating in anticipation of getting to swim.

When the hemorrhoids are pumping blood and the thorn train is screaming down the tracks there are times it might be good to get a few under the belt first.

I didn't go too far again did I?

All drinking rules are suspended on the golf course, except one: what's mine is mine and you'd better keepa you hands offa it.

Used to hunt JPG with a bunch of Desert Storm vets. One of them always offered me a snort of old grand dad before heading to the woods. (Booze and guns do not mix in my mind). One day ol' Jim came dragging thru the marsh back up to the truck after a long day. As he climbed the ditch up toward us, he was dragging one leg behind him. He had been so plastered he fell out of a tree, jammed a treelimb thru the back of his leg and was walking back with both ends of that limb protruding out of his leg. He really didn't feel pain but he knew he couldn't bend the leg.

From my experiences, drinking before 9AM usually leads to trouble.

You either feel like total crap towards the end of the day, can't stand, or in jail. I've neve been to jail, but have had some friends who've ended up there.

I've got some pretty good stories.....

One late December (late bow season) Ol' Jim showed up with a new tree stand he had made....out of PVC pipe. He was as proud as a stallion with that perfectly formed seat. We just shook our heads as he trapesed off to his hunting grounds because we KNEW what was about to happen and sure enough, it did. You see, Ol' Jim didn't take into account that it was like 9 degrees out there and PVC tends to get a mite brittle in that kind of weather. Well Jim placed his stand in the tree, strapped it in (doubtless he used Duct Tape to fix it to the tree) and climbed in. Predictably that sucka shattered and Ol' Jim went straight on through to the creek bottom he was perched out over. Bruised and wet he was still proud of his invention and vowed to make a new....better one! At least his bottle of Old Grand Dad didn't break!

Geezerette asked if I'd cook her some tree rat this year. She's never had tree rat or rabbit and wants to taste them.

Gotta admit, it's been a long time but fried squirrel with milk gravy and mashed potato does sound good. Guess I'd better find me a .22 rifle, I kinda think a 20 gauge wouldn't leave enough to eat.

Never had any greasy squirrel myself. Don't use the 20 or you'll have nothing to eat besides some pellets.

You can find .22's cheap as heck...

I located one of them .410 handguns for under $400...I wonder if it's legal to hunt squirrel with a handgun?

Got one with my Uncle's elephant gun once. That was fairly impressive. A few bits and chunks and a bloody patch on the tree.

I've eaten squirrel. It's like everything else - you need to know what you're doing. If you're going for forest rats though, go porcupine - good stuff, almost as good as armadillo.

I saw a freshly dead cat this morning if that helps.

I thought .410 pistols were banned years ago.
