    Dannica Pattrick wins.

I think it was the swimsuit issue that got her over the hump.

Loved that race. Just wish we would have gotten the entire Japanese broadcast instead.

MEH...No fan of auto racing here. I think it's because of a misspent youth in turns 1 and 4........with the 1st wife.

I could go for some mis-spending is old age but that may just be the voices in my head that I need to beat back into submission.

It did seem like they were pretty animated. I give them credit for that.

When Mike Tyson got KO'd over there (maybe the biggest sports upset of all time) you could hear a pin drop in the arena.

I don't think people had any idea what they were seeing.

I've told you before just use a shower curtain and freeze them for a few months.

    Throws off the timeline.

Congratulations. That's great news. I think the market collapse is overrated. Some folks at work here also have had luck this week selling.

Thanks man. Geezer is a sellin' machine. Mine wasn't the only house he sold last week; he's en fuego.

And I totally forgot the shower curtain/freeze method. That will come in handy. I got tired of disposing of them with the battery acid in the bathtub. It just takes too damn long.

So I just called about my internet service possibilities.

Option 1: DSL with a download speed of 1.5Mbps and upload of 768Kbps for $74.99 per month

Option 2: Cable with a download speed of 10Mbps and an upload of 1.0Mbps for $43 per month.

This is gonna be a tough decision.

I'm glad those flockers at DirecTV make it free

Are you saying you're going to have Directv tv and cable internet?

Is there something about showers today? Shower curtains here, showering in the counting thread (good thing I have numeracy issues or I'd be there).

Way back when I posted a poll about peeing in the shower - it probably got lost with the forum reorganization.

Can't beat time alone with nothing but water and a bar of soap.

Should I have used the word, "beat" here?

Nah, the floor is too slippery. You don't want to make the Irish Spring Gods angry by discracing such a sacred time.

    By the way...

I work in IT and we at my office have come to the conclusion, well, we really didn't someone else did, but it's been proven, that when going with cable internet you need to be aware of a couple of things:

    1. "Downloads as fast as 10mbps!" doesn't mean you will really download at 10mbps. You only download as fast as where you're pulling from's capabilities. Not many sites go over 2.5mbps.

    2. When using cable internet you will be sharing the connection with everyone around you. The cable "stream" is piped from one giant hub and then split to all the houses. What this means is that anyone with enough skill can get access to your data.

    3. Cable is really good at these introductory prices. It may be around $40 now, but this time next year it will go up, trust me. We were with Insight for 4 1/2 years. Our prices went up every 12 months.

Right now we are with DirecTV and at&t DSL. For both of those services we pay less than $100/mo, when we were paying $170/mo for all of our cable, internet, and phone through Insight.

Our internet connection is capable of 3.5mbps.

Do you live in a rural area?

Yes it will be a rural area and yeah, I'm aware of all that about cable. Fortunately, once I move, I will only have a few neighbors (for now), so my down/up speed shouldn't be compromised too much. Given the pricing and options available, I don't have much of a choice.

I have AT&T/Yahoo DSL at my current home, but it's not available at the new house, otherwise I would stick with it as it's cheaper.

I figured that was the case, but I would just be careful with going with two different companies for that.

We originally were going to just go with DirecTV and keep our cable internet. We had the bundle deal with cable, and when we cancelled our digital cable, they wanted to charge us $50 bucks/mo for internet.

It's a shame that you can't keep your ISP. We haven't had as much trouble with at&t as we had with Insight/Comcast.

Yeah I had comcast several years ago and was not too thrilled with their customer service and it seemed like it went down quite often. But it was significantly faster than my DSL whenever I ran speed tests.

Never have had problems with DSL going down, and it's plenty fast for me. I think I get 3Mbps down and 400Kbps up.

Hell, I'm just glad that I won't have dial up.

I know, I've had at&t since January, and haven't had one outage that wasn't caused by myself.

I had one every two days with Insight/Comcast because their DNS server was stupid.
