That is a beautiful deer. Kinda small tho ain't he? Is that milk dripping from the corner of his mouth?

Someday I'll figure out how to post a pic and we can compare our deer. Looks like about the same spred. Mine's 13 points and 146 1/2 pts after 23 pts in deductions. taken with a muzzleloader on 12/7, his Pearl Harbor day.

But that is truley a beautiful deer. Congrats.
Truthfully there are a lot bigger deer I know. He's got good mass and spread. Strong G2's and 3"s but a little short elsewhere. But he's a great buck for me... I'll take him.

I remember you posted a picture 100 years ago of that buck but it was a small picture right? A little hard to see. I remember it was a great deer.

    it wasn't that long ago.

    Thanks.

Yours looks alot like mine in size and coloration but without the reverse dropping beam tines and a few branches here and there.

I'd definately accept your deer any day of the week.

I was thinking you killed that deer in 2003 or 4?

But I can't keep track of these years as they fly by.

My son didn't kill his first deer until he was 18. Of course that was after hitting one with his subcompact which did more damage to the car than the deer. He was so p1ssed he actually beat the thing with his fist in the head until it was dead. I'm so glad I didn't anger my son when he was younger.

He must have really loved that subcompact.

It was the last year (94) for the Mercury Capri, only 40,000 total world wide made. To this day he has no passion for deer and think they are evil. Warning to Deer, play dead or my son will beat you. You would think they would learn but for some reason even after the beating the deer come back.

Did he cry and tell her he'd never do that again. Did he blame her for making him so mad that he HAD to strike out like that...did he accuse her of jumping out in front of him on purpose, just to make him mad so he'd notice her and beat her. Some do "like" that even tho it hurts, they are at least getting the attention they crave.
Did he offer her flowers and candy? Promise sex and to consult a psychologist if only she'd forgive him? And then did he get upset when she didn't respond to his better behavior?

I'm in a meeting and they made the mistake of giving us all laptops - with wireless internet. Based on the first 20 minutes, I may be more active in this thread today than I've been in a LONG time.

I'm thinking of road tripping to Texas to kill a turkey down there.

Can you imagine the number of times you would have to punch a whitetail to kill it.

We're talking about sustained fury there man.

OK....anybody lurking on these posts, if you're squeemish...turn to another channel for a bit.

    I'll wait.

My older son and I were hunting down south one time when he saw a 7 pointer on the ridge above him. He flung lead at it and shot it's right front foot off (so we figured out later). I heard the shots from two ridges away and thought he musta tagged one when I didn't hear anything else following that shot. Well about 15 minutes later I heard a scuffling noise in the leaves behind me, I turned and here cam a buck limping down toward me. I placed a well aimed shot and he went down, stood back up and started down the trail at toward me again. I again placed a good shot, this time into the brisket as he walked toward me. He went down again and again got back up and kept coming towrd me. My third shot put him down...but it took about 20 min for him to give up the ghost. He thrashed about the whole time. By the time he died, he had my three shots in the chest cavity and his right front foot gone with shatterd bone exposed.
And so you think you wanna *****slap one of these critters???

    Here's a 2nd hand deer story - can't speak for it's truth.

A fella I worked with when I lived in NY shot a deer - neck shot - and walked up to it and started tying on his tags. At that time when you got your permit they gave you 4 tags - one to tie on each foot. Anyway, he got two of 'em tied on and all of a sudden the deer jumped up and ran off. He started walking after it because he was pretty much screwed - two tags = no deer and was hoping they'd fall off. He hears a shot up ahead and goes running up there just as another hunter walks up to the deer.

Roy (my friend) yells - "That's my deer!"
    "The hell it is!"

Points - "Look - it has my tags on it."

The guy looks down at the tags, looks back up. "If you could tie them on as fast as he was running, I guess you can have him."

At leas t he would have had his tags back. Either way a happy ending.
