A man can't swing a dead cat without hitting a college basketball game right now.

Let me tell you something. It 's hard to swing a dead cat when the tail comes off.

    But you can't swing it.

    Not without knuckle breaks.

wow...an evening to myself. The kids off to some rock concert at school and the Mrs. is still trying to get end of the quarter grades on report cards.

Me? Homemade pulled pork and chocolate ice cream.

Anybody puts green dye in my bourbon will die themselves.

Watch for Geezer Jr in the AM, he's kicking off the Indy St Patrick's day parade.

Try swinging a dead calf that's rotten enough that the legs come off.

But before I tell that story - anyone know what the statute of limitations is on throwing a dead calf onto a fraternity's porch?

True story (Ha, me first!) Several years ago I was working in an agricultural research station, also known as The Pig Farm...well my "partner and I were grunts of the outfit and had to do all the feeding and cleaning of the pens. We had some outdoor feedlots which were dirt field plots with tin sheds for shade. One late spring day after a couple days of hard rain we discovered a full sized hog dead in the mud. We rolled him over and grabbed a pig foot in each hand. Lifting that boar up, the hide and meat just slid right off the bone and he dropped to the ground at our feet. He'd evidently been dead a lot longer than we knew.

edit...Here's the irony to that story...This evening I made pulled pork.

When I was on rodeo team in college every now and then you'd kill a calf practicing roping - they'd hit the rope wrong and break their neck. You drag 'em to the corner and they get hauled off every couple of days. One night a few of us were "hydrating" and pitched one off the back of a pickup onto the porch of a prissy, preppy fraternity - exploded on impact.

The corollary is this. I was at a rodeo in Colorado and mentioned this to a couple of guys. After a little more hydrating they decided we should reprise my college years and grabbed a ripe calf before heading into Boulder to tour Colorado St (or was it U-Colorado? can't remember which is in Boulder & which is in Ft Collins). Anyway, two of us are in the back of the pickup and start the "one . . . two . . . three" chant while swinging the calf and its legs pull off and it drops into the pickup at our feet. It exploded on impact too.

Well, if in the summer of 1986 or '87 (don't really remember) you got hit by a dead calf tossed out of a pickup truck - it wasn't me.

Nope I was long gone from CO by that point.

That brings up a good point though. What would you do if you just got randomly smacked by a dead calf tossed out of a pickup? Some people might pull an Artest. I believe I'd laugh my arse off...

    Wouldn't that be... self loathing.

    I'd say 4 or 5. I think he was a ruffian though.

    Twes

That is a beautiful deer. Kinda small tho ain't he? Is that milk dripping from the corner of his mouth?

Someday I'll figure out how to post a pic and we can compare our deer. Looks like about the same spred. Mine's 13 points and 146 1/2 pts after 23 pts in deductions. taken with a muzzleloader on 12/7, his Pearl Harbor day.

But that is truley a beautiful deer. Congrats.
