Do you think eating fistfull helpings of communion wafers and guzzling red wine from the bottle is....wrong?

    Just a hypothetical.

Only if the wafers are salted. Gotta watch that BP and you'd undo all the health benefits of the wine.

Of course if you drink too much wine you might forget what Spicoli just used the baptismal well for.

    That is unreal.

Back in my HS days, we had a kid 5'7" tall who could stand under the basket, jump straight up, and dunk a basketball with either hand. At 5'8" I could start at the FT line, jump, and hang on the rim. Never could dunk tho, while I can still easily palm a basketball I never got quite high enough to dunk it.

But a vball player go 50" up has got to be dominating.

BSU has a vball player who stands about 6'2 with a 44in. vert. He can go from a stand still and touch 18inches above the rim on a basketball goal. He's mainly a back row attacker, and it's a feat to see him in action.

In his wiki, it is claimed that HOF-er David Thompson had a 48" vertical.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Thompson_(basketball)

That may be a stretch, but for a 6'4" he was amazing before drugs, alcohol, and injuries took it all away. Lots of people still claim he was the best college player in ACC history, over Jordan, McAdoo, Sampson, Duncan, etc.

Kind of funny and true story (it's on tape at youtube IIRC), Kareem after retirement was asked who was the best basketball player he ever saw. Great question, would he say himself, Wilt, Russell, Walton, Jordan?

His answer: Earl "the goat" Manigault (6'2" Rucker park legend who supposedly had a 52" vertical)

I can jump 50 inches. As long as there are stairs along the way.

    Thanks Twes.

Time to go home and collect my presents.

Hurricane Ike is getting me worried. The 5 day projection is making a beeline for my house.

Good luck with that stuff. It's too bad you can't just chain a pod to bedrock and ride that baby out with a cooler or something.

Do they build concrete houses down there?

I think the badass hurricane name is Hurricane Hannah.
That just has a ring to it.

Let us know what you got for your birthday.

Oh, and I'm officially hungover. 5 guys from England, 1 girl from New Zealand, and 1 guy from Austrailia are staying with a buddy of mine. They're traveling around the country and stopped for yesterday and today for the game, their first ever tailgate party.

(On a side note, they were floored when they found out that college parties actually have kegs. They thought it was just something out of American Pie, that hollywood just thought up by themselves. They're so green by our standards.)

You couldn't understand a freaking word they said for about the first hour and a half or so. Amazingly enough, you get them drunk, they slow their speech down, and you catch everything they say.

I worked with an Australian in Nebraska and I swear for the 1st month I couldn't understand anything he said on the phone. Face-to-face was OK but he'd call me from another barn or the shop and I'd be lost.

Had a bit of that problem in Arkansas w/southern accents but not as bad.

Yes, since hurricane Andrew the industry standard is "CBS construction" which is concrete block (covered with) stucco. Unfortunately my house pre-dates that and is wood frame (much more expensive to insure) but it is 2X6-wall construction so there's really no worries, and it has an upgraded high-wind roof.

The cool but also pain-in-the-butt part is that it is a "Florida pool house" which means I have a large pool with 6 double door sliders, to the family room, kitchen, living room, utility room, and master bedroom. Yes, practically the whole back half of my house is glass (big thick woods & 200 trees in back of that, so privacy isn't an issue).

But it is a royal pain in the butt to cover all that glass for a hurricane.

An orange tree, which I asked for,
    new luggage, which I needed,
    dinner at a Chinese place,
and new towels, for which I attempted to look appreciative.

It is starting to look like Ike is more headed for the Florida Keys or Cuba as a cat 3/ cat 4.

Bad for them, good for me.

I'm still easily in the "error cone" though.

The last time Spicoli and I were on "the farm" they took away our shoes and gave us pills in little cups.

    I'm not going back there.
