I used the words "ethereal" and "bowels" in the same sentence today. Go ahead and try to conjure up how I framed that gem.

I'm in shock that anyone might use ethereal in this thread. It's,it's surreal.

What a nice warm winter it's been around here this year. I don't remember a winter that was this warm. Super Bowl week was obviously spectacular, but the whole winter has been comfortable compared to what it usually is. Last year was a nightmare with the ice storm and consistently frigid temperatures. I wish it was like this every winter here.

Yep, easily one of my favorite places to go. My brother lives in San Mateo so when I go to visit, we just hang out in San Francisco.

My wife really would like to go to SF, but for only one reason. She want's to see Alcatraz and that's it. Just a weird compulsive thing for her.

So, I want to suprise the wife with a Cali trip sometime...whats to do in SF other than go out to the wharf and eat? Oh, and catch a Giants game perhaps.

Actually you may have hit on the answer. I do believe after seeing the movie 'The Rock' this OCD kicked in.

Great pics! Brings back memories of my trip there almost 4 years ago. Loved the ones of the Golden Gate in the fog and the Lombard Street one.

Beautiful pics iilive4sports. My family and I are planning a trip to San Francisco in September--my first time in Northern California. I'm pretty stoked to see everything. Anything you recommend? All we have set is Alcatraz so far.

Well I have lived in Sacramento for just over a year now. I've been to SF probably 5-10 times in that span and I feel like I've barely seen anything.

Honestly its a beautiful city to just walk around in. It really is one of a kind. Obviously you have the golden gate bridge and Alcatraz (which you will probably want to book your tour ahead of time as they fill up quick from what I hear). The Wharf is beautiful as you can see from the pictures. Good food and some shops. Stop at the mini donut shop on Pier 39. They are fresh and the best donuts I've ever had. Trish's mini donuts is the name I believe.

I recommend going to a Giants game too. AT&T Park is really nice. I went and saw Lincecum pitch, was pretty cool. There is all kinds of music in SF as well. It wouldn't be a trip to SF if you didn't go on Lombard Street (the pic with the white van I posted), the most crooked street in the country. And the hills. They are ridiculously steep. I was driving my car, which is a manual, gotta admit, I was scared haha.

Another fun place to drive is once you cross the Golden Gate Bridge, go to mount tamalpais. Its a beautiful area and you will get the best views of the area there. I have some pics somewhere of there that I will find and post.

Not sure if you would be looking to travel outside of the bay, but if you are, I highly recommend driving the 4ish hours to Lake Tahoe. It is absolutely breathtaking up there. I highly recommend going up there. Also, its on the Cali/Nevada border so there are some good casinos up there.

Thats all I can think of for now.

I'm not sure how often that you make it out to the West Coast....but I guess for me, if I don't visit the West Coast that often....I'd want to see stuff that I can't see in Indy.

If you have the time....there is more to see out here than SF itself. You can drive south along the coast to Carmel, Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz about 2 hour south of SF ( nice sight seeing while seeing the Pacific Ocean ). If anything......you can drive along the coast to north of SF, you can go to Sausalito ( I think you can cross the Golden Gate Bridge to get there ) or to Napa Valley ( for wine tasting ).

If you stay within SF itself....there are museums....there's Golden Gate Park itself....shopping...nice food. If you are the church-going type and will be there on a Sunday...you can make your way to St. Mary's Cathedral for Church Service ( if anything, it's a cool looking cathedral ) that is also near Japan Town.
