Default HUGE Win For Us Tonight

Man, this team is making leaps and bounds since the all-star break. Not only do we have our first 4-game winning streak in over two years, but once again we get big contributions from Granger, Dunleavy, Murphy, and tonight Shawne Williams, to help lead us to overcome a 13 point 4th quarter deficit and get a big W against the Bulls, who are competing for the same 8 seed in the playoffs as we are.

So after the win tonight, we are now a full game and a half ahead of Chicago. Not only that, but New Jersey lost again, so we are now tied with New Jersey for the ninth seed. The beauty of this is that we have back to back games against New Jersey next week, and if we continue to play like we have tonight, and the last three games, I like our chances to capitalize, and work hard to pull out 2 W's against them.

Atlanta also won, overcoming a 4th quarter deficit of their own to get a big win against Division leading Orlando.

So after tonight's games this is what the fight for the 8th seed looks like.

    8.Atlanta (30-39) --
    9.Indiana (29-41) 1.5 GB
    9.New Jersey (29-41) 1.5 GB
    11. Chicago (27-42) 3 GB

This is everyone's schedules the rest of the way. Ours is by far the easiest, we have those two bigs games against the Nets to capitalize on, and 8 of our final 12 games are against teams with below .500 records. I like our chances.

Its time for me to accept that we are probably going to get to be Boston's sacrificial lambs in the first round.

That's all right with me, I like how we're playing our best ball of the year at the most critical time. And the most beautiful part of it is that we're doing it without JO or Tinsley. Who needs em?

Who knows when one of the Big 3 will go down? Or one of our guys comes back?

Squirrelz, I appreciate all the work you did in bringing this post to the forum. THANK YOU!

Myself, I want the last spot in the playoffs. That way the team will feel good about itself and we will get the best pick of all the non lottery teams.

Thanks man, I hope to be posting here a lot more come playoff time now, I usually post over at Insidehoops, but not enough Pacer talk for me. I love this Pacers board, I definitely hope to be able to contribute a lot here.

it would be interesting a matchup with boston, having jermaine and tinsley healthy as backups..

Thanks for the breakdown. It feels really good to finally be excited about the Pacer's again. I don't think we'll do much in the playoffs. But, how awesome would it be to see at least one home game win against the Celtics?

I was amped last night following the win. It is exciting to have something to get behind the Pacers about.

At the same time, we have to keep in perspective that while it's fun and possible, it will also be a challenge to displace Atlanta. They seem to be picking it up at the right time. Joe Johnson is going off of late and throw in Williams, Horford, Bibby, Smith, and Childress and we're talking a talented athletic bunch with something to play for.

Much like the two head to heads with NJ, the home game with the Hawks will be huge. Chicago and Philly could really help us out given both have two remaining with ATL. On our ledger, Boston, Washington, and Tuesday against NO stand out 3 likely defeats.

If we come out and post a win over a very good NO squad to make it five straight then I think I'll allow myself to drift farther toward confidence that playoffs will happen for us.
I'd rather die standing up than live on my knees.

Tue 25 vs New Orleans -- We seem to have their number
    Wed 26 @ New Jersey -- we win 1/2
    Fri 28 vs New Jersey
Mon 31 vs Miami --We win this one too, Miami sucks
Wed 02 @ Boston - - expected loss, but we have to play hard
Fri 04 @ Milwaukee-- Milwaukee sucks we got 2-0
    Sun 06 vs Milwaukee
Tue 08 vs Atlanta --Beatable, but we could lose
Fri 11 @ Philadelphia --We can beat them
Sat 12 vs Charlotte -- They can't handle us
Mon 14 @ Washington --50/50 chance, Wash is pretty good. We'd prob. lose
Wed 16 vs New York --Knicks aren't going to care. . so we win this game

We should win ATLEAST 8 of these game. And we have to beat the teams ahead of us. Especially ATL and NJ

Finally a win I could feel good about. The Bulls had been showing signs of life. I felt like they were going to get the 8th seed after the trade went down, and especially after the drubbing they gave the Pacers a few weeks ago.

2 of 3 games now Shawne Williams has been dead center in the effort to put a team away and get the win.

Great game by Danny too for the 2nd night in a row.

Shawne and Danny USED TO BE an awkward pair of confused players still too green to run the show. In this game they looked like the team's star tandem instead.

Dun hit that slump last month...and then b**** slapped it right outta here. Love that.

Troy...well this is why I started that thread about Troy. I don't know what got into him but on offense he's been dialed in and playing like a man possessed.

Still HATE the defense from Dun/Troy, but with Danny, Shawne and Foster out there it certainly helps out. The backcourt is still lagging behind badly, but there isn't much that can be done about that.

A win vs NO sure would go a long way toward getting me playoff excited.

I agree on the challenge of it, but man it's so nice to be focused on that challenge rather than just twiddling our thumbs in an arena so empty you can actually hear it. A push for a playoff spot is one of the most exciting portions of a basketball season, and more so if the teams in front of the Pacers don't just fold over and let them back into it.

If they could manage a 39-43 record I'd be especially happy. I know it's still sub-500 but it's not pathetic. Other than the Denver that would almost be enough to make the top 16 overall records and justify being in the playoffs. Much better than getting in with 35 wins.

i'd love for us to make that 8th spot and scare the daylights out of boston...I could see it going maybe 6 or 7 games! I bet we could hang with them...now if it was detroit i'd say no way...but boston isn't as good as advertised. See the patriots!
