Thread: Antoine Walker

    Default Antoine Walker

Antoine Walker is seeking a buyout from Minnesota:
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3266287

You all probably know the question I'm going to ask. And I'm sure a chorus of groans will soon follow after (and I agree wholeheartedly). But in the past, Bird has said that he liked Antoine Walker. And Obie is certainly familiar with Walker.

If Walker is bought out, do you think the Pacers would go after him and sign him for the rest of the season? This would obviously be an attempt to go for a playoff push. Walker would obviously start at PF until JO comes back.

Believe me, the thought of Walker in a Pacers jersey nearly makes me sick. But do you see it happening?

I'm praying he signs with Boston, but by all means, feel free.

    I certainly hope not.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

With Walker and Murphy playing side-by-side we could surely set some sort of big man three point shooting record. I wonder who would jack more up.

I guess that's not fair since Murphy has been so much better lately.

I don't want it to happen. I guess I was just kind of worrying out loud. I saw the article and it made me wonder.

I just think if Bird really doesn't want to rebuild and wants to win now, he just might make a push for him. Considering the Pacers are still relatively in the race for the 8th seed, I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility, especially considering our management.

And I really don't see Boston making a huge push for him. Although I'm with Kstat in hoping that they do.

If he wants out of Minny what makes you think he would want to be here?

He's not getting any playing time in Minnesota. They're in a full-blown youth movement.

Hypothetically, if Walker can't fool any contenders into signing him, I think he would definitely consider the Pacers considering he played for O'Brien when they went to the ECF. Also, he would probably get playing time here. If he does well, he might earn himself a decent contract in the summer. If not, he's in no worse position than he is now.

Again, I want to reiterate that I absolutely don't want him here. I just don't trust out management to avoid him.

I knew this question was coming, and I'm vehemently opposed to the idea. Fatoine is one of my least favorite players in the NBA and isn't even talented enough to make me slightly overlook that. A big HELL NO from me.

Ya gotta admit, Mark's was much better. It was a real shimmy, Toine's is much more of a "look how much I can eat thanks to my huge contract" shimmy.

I don't like Antoine Walker as a player. He's one of my 5 least-liked for many years running. I do respect what he can bring to the floor, but I don't want him on the Pacers. Here's to hoping Walsh has one last trick up his sleeve this summer. (Or several tricks)

I think Walker is shopping for a ring.

The closest thing the Pacers could offer would be hancuffs.

Are the Magic still looking for a big man?

That was a good one. I would like to see his shimmy shake in a Pacers uniform however.

Back a couple of years ago, I seem to remember David Aldridge saying that the pacers have always coveted Walker, and were trying to work a deal to get him, involving Austin Croshere. He said he was surprised the deal didn't get done. I think he may be at a point where he just wants a comfortable fit. He has a ring already, so maybe he wouldn't X Indy off his list of places he'd like to go. I'm not a big fan of Walker AT ALL, but I would root for him if he wore the blue and gold.

He'll end up in Dallas again. But I wouldn't be against him signing here for the rest of the season. We could use the size, and while I don't like this game that much I can't deny that he can play and he can make some clutch buckets.
