I think most moves are known as to who did what, and the rest are easy to surmise.

Not if we trade the pick away because Larry wants to "win now."
It depends on whom we trade the pick for, and it's still more valuable then 11th pick the Hawks had last year!

People saying they know which person in the front office made which moves are deluding themselves. How could you possibly know? Fan intuition? It's not like Larry and Walsh hold press conferences together and make it clear who does what individually or jointly.

We know who made some moves. Although I don't remember reading it, some guys on here have said Walsh said he made the Golden State trade, and we all know who fired Isiah, but you're right lots of times we don't know who actually pulled the trigger on a move.

What it is, is guys are unhappy we're losing so they want someone to blame.

Do we, really? You bring up Isiah, but it has been posited at forum parties that Donnie knew full well that Larry and Isiah couldn't co-exist, and he was complicit with keeping Zeke around just long enough to get Jermaine to re-sign. And it's been reported that Larry wanted to trade Ron before the brawl, but the Simons of all people put a halt to it, something that flies in the face of everything we've seen from them in their history as owners.

This organization has shown it is not above lying to the media, and the media has shown it is willing to go along with things they know aren't true (the "migraine" incident of the '04 ECF, for example.) Therefore, I submit we have no idea who did what, or, probably more importantly, who chose not to act when circumstances warranted it. All we do know is my list above and this:

    61
    44
    41
    35
    32 (projected)

I think that speaks for itself.

Gordon isn't and won't be a PG at the NBA level. He may try and
play some there. But he'll be drafted as a SG. And Mayo and
Bayless will be drafted as guys who can be combo guys that
might eventually be full time PGs.

After Rose, while he'll go after the others above, Augustine
is probably the next best 'pure' PG.
They can be drafted as combo guards, a combo guard still plays some point. Pure point? Of course not, but some point. As long as they can create for themselves and teammates is all that matters

I can think of two other happenings.

Protected Bender in the expansion draft
    Made Reggie the Amnesty cut.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

I'll take a stab at that list.

Doesn't matter is it was all Donny or all Larry.

The ownership has put up with it far too long.

I was thinking more of the big moves, but what the heck.

I'll preface this by stealing a page from Unclebuck.... or maybe it's Will Galen.... or both.... or someone else: I reserve the right to completely change my mind.

Keep in mind some of these are guesses. Keeping in mind that just because one name gets put there, doesn't necessarily mean the other wouldn't approve. Keep in mind also that as long as Walsh is here, it's ultimately his call to say "no" to whatever Larry did or wanted to do. I also believe Walsh is the one who ultimately made the trades. Furthermore, up until this summer consider who was "master" and who was "apprentice".

The only thing that I can guarantee is that I know that we will make at least 2 FA signings, resigning and/or Acquisitions in the offseason.

We'll get change....but it will probably be a minimum contract player that will sit at the end of the bench like Graham and Owens.

Also...there is one more thing to consider....we have 10 guaranteed contracts with $68 mil owed in the 2008-2009 season. It's been said before....but there will be some sort of roster change sometime before the 2008-2009 trade deadline. Oh well....here's hoping that we trade Marquis as an Expiring contract sometime between the end of the 2007-2008 regular season and the 2008-2009 trade deadline.

    Let me predict next summer/year:

Wherever we draft, the team will report being surprised that Small Forward fell to us.

Rush probably won't be re-signed because Andre Owens is given a large extended contract

Our 2nd round pick is proclaimed to be as good as our 1st round pick. He is later released (from prison)

To make up for the above, Stephen Graham is traded to Phoenix for a 2nd round pick
    All fixed now.

I want to believe this summer will finally bring some substantive change, but the track record doesn't leave one optimistic, as Bball notes.

Now that Bird per his press conf. has had the "revelation" that this core (whatever he defines it as) isn't sufficient to get it done, it seems something could occur.

Some here are already calling our FO's performance a joke. My feeling is they have until Nov. 1 of next year to put their money where the mouth is-if that means taking Fritos for Tins and Cornflakes for JO, so be it-to finally change the core that Bird only apparently realized was inadequate.

Other, dare I say, aggresive or risky moves would not be unwelcome in addition to those allude to above. Something along the lines of moving one of our 875 SFs, some of whom actually have value, to improve another area of need.
See, my problem is that this was the attitude mostly expressed when we were wanting SJax gone. The thing about that is, you're the one that's going to have to eat the Fritos and Cornflakes (generally in the form of a player who either sucks, has a long contract, or both), and it's not very easy to shove them over on someone else's plate down the line. Larry will need a couple of offseasons before we can fully judge him, because he's going to have to come out from under the mountainous contracts we have in order to do anything. They aren't close enough to a championship for the owners to be willing to go over the luxury tax threshold for players. We're going to have to be patient. Unless we luck out and get the top pick, it will have to be through the draft and trades (which you have to watch out for, especially when other teams are trying to offer you Fritos and Corn Flakes for your best players).

I was watching the Bulls last night and the commentators pointed out that the Bulls are a jump shooting team and need a strong offensive post threat.

Does anyone here have an opinion on whether Chicago would be a good trading partner with the Pacers regarding O'Neal? They don't have too many expiring contracts besides Gooden and Gordon, who both would need to be resigned.

    Thoughts?

I would love a sign and trade for Gordon and there pick but I don't know what they would have to make the salaries match.

If they had the exiring contracts to do that, they would have been the ones who got Pau Gasol. They might be willing to take Jermaine, but get ready for Larry Hughes and his contract coming back the other way.
