Thread: will Conseco Fieldhouse ever host an all-star game ?

Default will Conseco Fieldhouse ever host an all-star game ?

in the next 10 years ?

Chicago & Phoenix have had 2 since MSA hosted the event in 1985
if we supposedly have the best arena in the league,
    why not Conseco ?

I hope its not an issue amongst season ticket holders holding this back

Conseco could never host the game, but the other events. the Lucas Fieldhouse would have to host the game. As they did in 85, MSA hosted 3point and dunk, and RCA hosted game

The Pacers organization does not want the allstar game . it pisses off the season ticket holders when they don't get tickets and it isn't that good for the city and I forget some of the other reasons

I think it was in the Indy business journal a couple years ago where D. Walsh mentioned why PS&E has no desire to ever host an All-Star game again.

I do recall a lot of it had to do with what UB indicated in his post and the NBA's unwillingness to use an alternate facility like a stadium to host the actual game.

I think it has something to do with the Pacer organization having to work overtime to get the event organized.

Too much work load & too little payback for the benefit.

Most local fans would probably not be able to get seats, I thought.

Giving up your seats for celebrities would **** off the local fans that wanted to attend, not please them.

Hosting a game that your PAYING customers can't get tickets to plus has little to no economic impact for your city, is just as dumb! As a season ticket holder, I have no interest in the Pacers hosting the All-Star game if the locals can't even get in the door.

In the end, we all will just be watching it on TV so they might as well keep playing it in Phoenix and anywhere that really wants it because the seats will be unavailable to the fans!

Tickets and the economic impact on the city.... or lack of....

How in the world could the 22 season ticket holders left not be able to get a seat in Lucas Oil Stadium? Seriously, whether we're talking the RCA Dome or LOS even IF every seat in Conseco was held by a season ticket holder (which obviously they are not), that should not be a problem considering the number of people either one of those stadiums hold (even for a basketball game setup).

So does this argument/excuse mean that the host city doesn't get any tickets from the NBA?

And even if that is the case then how could the event not be good for the city? That would pretty much guarantee the attendees are not locals so the hotels and downtown should benefit even more.

And even if it is BS and it's only ALL locals attending... STILL how couldn't it be good for the city to have thousands of people downtown looking for food, bars, and mementos?

What am I missing (outside of the thought of NBA not wanting the event somewhere besides the team arena)?

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.
