Thread: Eric Gordon FTW!

    Kofi-

I actually agree with you that EJ won't likely be an NBA superstar.
He doesn't have Wade's explosiveness or ability to finish at the
    rim.

But, he's already a better, purer shooter from deep than Wade
will probably ever be. As a SG, that ability will spread the court
for his teamates. And that spread court (unlike in the NCAA where
teams can double easily w/o consitently paying for it) will also allow
him room to drive it that he doesn't have right now.

Of course, that means he'll need to develop a mid-range, pull-up
game (a big facet if Wade's game) as he adjusts to the NBA. If he
can do that, he'll be a very prolific, offensive player at NBA level.

I actually watched parts of the IU - PU game last night and while I think Gordon is a fine college and player and will likely be a very good NBA player - I certainly don't see a major star in the making. he is Lebron James. he isn't Carmelo Anthony even.

Gordon is one dimensional? How so? Cause he's not a very good PG and a very good SG? He is the most complete scorer in college basketball. He's a better shooter than Mayo and he is as good a finisher as just about anyone you will find. I don't know how you can call Eric Gordon one dimensional with a straight face. Guys like JJ Redick are one dimensional.

I think some of you have seen Gordon play so much now that you've become desensitized to how good the kid really is.
Nope, that distinction goes to Michael Beasley!

Having to change high schools four times in four years doesn't bother you? Thats a HUGE red flag to me. Especially because the schools were basically making him leave.
It would depend on the reason. Were these changes due to disciplinary actions? It's not uncommon for athletes to swap schools.

That was one of the worst games I've seen EJ play. His kickouts were wild and he tried to force the issue too often.

So, what did you think of DJ White? He's the poster child for playing four years of college ball. Right now, he's probably moved his way up to a mid-first round pick. Last season, he would have went late second, if drafted at all. His transformation has been truly remarkable this season.

If you want a 6'9" guy playing center. Thats how tall he is I don't care what he's listed as. Personally if we are picking a big guy right now I'd like Thabeet over just about anyone.

Agreed. It's clearly an issue and it's not just handles, it's passing as well. People might want to rip on Kofi, but I just don't see how you can watch EJ play and not think Wade's game without Wade's hops, which frankly isn't quite top 5 to me.
Except that Wade's hops aren't anything to get giddy about, I'm not talking about his dunks where the whole lane clears, I'm talking about his measurable vertical which was less than stellar considering the overall athlete he is. His vert was measured at the pre-draft camp at 35inches. His wingspan is the thing that sets him apart considering it was measured at 6'10 3/4"

DWade ranked 14th in his draft class at his overall athletics.

Love is PF. Like I've said, think Kevin McHale in a stocky body. You expect him to play like a little, fat doughboy just like you expected gangly McHale to just fumble about. But then in action he's slippery as hell, getting tough boards he has no business getting and generally outsmarting you on most plays.

Beasley is like a less bulky Karl Malone. I mean he boards and he's got that exact same jump shot, including the range/accuracy. If he can NBA PnR or learn to, look out. EJ is nowhere near his league AT THIS MOMENT.

And then in terms of potential it's not like EJ has the market cornered there. Just like he could get a lot better, so could about 20-25 other guys in this draft.

That's actually a good thing for Indy, it means the Pacers have a shot at a decent prospect despite having no shot at EJ.

I still think Augustin is probably the guy that makes the most sense for us assuming we are picking in the 10-12 range in the draft.
I haven't seen enough of Bayless to make a decision one way or the other on him. His stats are more impressive than Gordon or Mayo. In fact you could say he would appear to be a combo of the two at this point. Although out of the three he is the only guy with a positive A/T ratio which is a big plus, but at the same time you have this Arizona team with three guys touted as possible top 20-25 picks in this draft (Bayless, Budinger, and Hill) and yet they are only 16-9 and .500 in the Pac-10? That doesn't seem to add up to me.

Beasley's lapped everyone in POY race and is a lock for #1 overall.

He's having an even better freshman season than Kevin Durant had last year. He's also better built for the NBA.

I'd take Bayless over Augustine in that 10-12 range. If he was gone
(or maybe even if he isn't), I'd think long and hard about taking Thabeet
and address the needs at G another way via trade.

Because I'm a fan. Beasley was mentioned in this thread, so I brought up the comparison. There were people who would take Durant over Oden, and Beasley is performing equal to Durant in significant less minutes. We could always win draft lottery and have him in blue & gold.

If we got Beasley I'd be pretty pleased to say the least. However I would also be worried that the world is about to end.

Either that...or have a marginal grasp on reality. One of the two.
