As big as a surprise Kareem Rush has been to some people (not myself) do you see TPTB giving this kid a well deserved contract or will another team high ball us.

I think he stays a Pacer.

At the most he might get a little more than the MLE.

Sure, he has been a real good player for us and a big suprise but yet he is only averaging 8 points. I'm not trying to take anything away from what he has done but he still isn't going to have half the league waiting to sign him.

And because the Pacers are the team that gave him a chance this year I think he will be somewhat loyal. I think that they will shell out the money for him especially if a trade can get done relieving the Pacers of some salary.

Not unless we shed salary and not if another team tries to overpay him.

And he deserves no where near the MLE. He's a backup SG.

I hope we gather enough talent over the next 6 months that we don't have to look at the Kareem Rush's of the world to try to make our team better.

much as rush has been a pleasant surprise, he's replaceable. we need to upgrade our core.

I wish that we can resign him....but he's going to bolt for a higher bidder if not greener pastures.

It's too bad....I really wanted to try to build some team chemistry with a player that knows the system and can really contribute.

I really feel that trading daniels for an expiring contract is something we should really look into... On one hand it would enable us to sign kareem, and at the same time allow stephan graham to get more minutes. If there is one move we should make before the deadline, thats the one.

I hope he is. I like how he plays. He could be a starter for us if we had the right point guard.

I would put the odds at about 60% chance he isn't here, just because another team will give him more money.

    How much does he deserve?

The real question here... is he having a superb season because he's getting minutes. Its not adding up in w/l column.

If our record was 31-21 vs 21-31 you have to give him a generous offer. I am thinking he gets 2m a year from us, probably more from someone else.

    Stevenson $ 3.3
    Fred Jones $3.3
    Willie Green $3
    Rasual Butler $3.3
    James Jones $2.9
    Damien Wilkins $2.9
Finely $3.1 (not including Dallas' check)
    Charilie Bell $3.1

I would say that Rush is between $2.1 and $3.3 depending on length.

If Diener is making $1.5 what does Kareem deserve?

I'd say no higher than $4mm a year. Preferably closer to $3mm.

I don't know if he will be a Pacer or not, but I think he SHOULD. He's been a pretty reliable shooter and is still young enough to play. Whenever we play small ball we seem to play better anyways. Unfortunately it doesn't translate to enough wins.

I would be very angry if he was not a pacer.

We gave him the only oppurunity to get back into the league and gave him the playing time he needed to be successful. I would expect us to try to hang on to him because he has been very effective.

Rush is one of our best perimeter defenders. On a team of non-defenders, especially in the backcourt, I'd say he is a necessary player.

And I think Hicks is in the right ballpark for what the Pacers will be willing to pay to keep him. $2.5M - $3M per year for 2 years.

He might get $4M elsewhere, but will he even play half the minutes he will play here?

I'm not good at projecting the salary situation beyond the 2009-2010 season. Assuming that we make no moves this offseason.....how much can we afford to pay him without going over the Luxury Tax threshold over the next couple of years if we sign him for 2 or 3 seasons?

The problem is that I keep on reading that we will likely be very close to any likely Luxury tax threshold next season. I'm guessing that we want to keep him....but won't spend the $$$ to keep him ( mainly due to luxury tax concerns ).

You know... I was thinking they couldn't find the money or a way to keep James Jones so I wouldn't keep my hopes too high that they'd do it for Kareem Rush UNLESS.... They made a wink and a nod agreement when he initially signed for a subsequent contract based on certain returns this season.

I think Rush will move to greener pastures, he'll go to wherever pays him the most money, and it won't be here.

I was always under the impression Rush saw Indy as a place to re-launch his career so that he could make more money somewhere else in the future.

I don't really know if he deserves the pay, but he'll probably get it. Even not so good players will put up somewhat gaudy numbers when they get PT.
    Already stoked for 2013-2014.
