i'd need to live in indy -- sadly the commute to conseco from the district of tough juice is kinda pricey
    This is the darkest timeline.

I still go to the games anyway, but a Tinsley-less Pacers squad would be great.

I would go if I had someone to go with. I live in Bedford 150 miles round trip. With gas + ticket it gets kinda price for a single guy with bills. Now if I could take turns driving with someone its a different story. You lose the boredom of a long drive and half the gas.

If I lived in Indiana I would be to as many as I could afford. Unfortinatly I don't have that option for anther 10 years 5 more trips to the sand box. 9 years 8 months 10 days but who's counting

I live in Indy, but there's a number of reasons I don't go to too many games.

First, the time commitment. It's a lot of time to drag the family back downtown...or to meet them and drive separately. Second, the cost. I make 6 figures, but I'm still fairly cheap (I drive a sub-compact...no kidding). Third, the theatrics during the game are just garbage. I just want to see basketball with a simple half-time show. FSN puts on what I really want to see...although sitting in the lower bowl would be a lot better...but with that comes more cost. Fourth, the team is not that good AND we still have Tinsley.

None of these factors are primary...

I haven't gone to a game this year. First time in 8 years. I have lived in knoxville, TN but went to as many as 10 games in a year. I haven't this year because I have a son and the health of my parents have taken up my time. I wish to go at least once, but since I live in FT Wayne it is hard.

I said, "rebuilding" and "I go to games regardless."

I want to immediately add that I only go to 3-5 games a year at this stage in my life. I will do that regardless of how good or bad they are.

My vision isn't very good, and I really can't see the details from the stands that make attending games really worthwhile. Plus I've got 4 kids and there is almost always something they want me to do. To the extent that I can do what I want, I'll go to a few games to soak up Conseco atmosphere, and the rest of the time I'll listen to Mark & Slick while doing some evening office work.

I'm not the kind of person Bird is considering when he says the fans will or won't stick through a rebuild.

That would work for me, but I'm not sure it would work for Kegboy. I'm not going to a game by myself. I need someone to protect me from Scuzzy Cotton Candy Guy.

Rhymes aside I also have grown to really appreciate Dunleavy and Murphy.

This poll will have very biased results. I will go to Pacers games because I am a Pacer fan. I don't care who is playing, I will go. It is more fun to see a team the has some promise and winning though.

I just think it is too expensive. I live 50 mins south of Indy. After gas, parking, food, and tickets I have spent around $150.

Let's not forget- The atmosphere at the games suck. There's no way around it. The atmosphere at college games is much more infectious. In fact, some of the stuff that goes on at NBA games probably actually hurts the connection with the fans and the game.

If you aren't a fan of basketball, then there is no reason to go to the game (you certainly won't get caught up in the atmosphere)... and to some degree... if you ARE a fan of basketball there's still several things to keep you from a game. I know what I mean when I say that, but it's hard to put into words what I'm trying to say.

On the Ch 13 Sports Jam roundtable discussion they talked about the Pacers and their attendance woes. One thing they seemed to have complete agreement on was that there are no current Pacers you really want to drop the $$$ on to see play. I think it was in this same conversation that somebody added the caveat of "Maybe Granger... a little"

While I make it to at least a few games a year, I ultimately don't go to more
because of the expense in both time and money. There are so many more
important (and rewarding) things to put those resources towards.

I guess in the grand scheme of life and survival, expending a substantial
amount of resources to watch other people play games is very low on my
priorities list compared to many others.

I wasn't gonna vote - then I thought that since for years - 7 or 8 at least I always bought a 10-pack plus went to Knick games, and even until last season kept going to Knick games, I'd pile on.

I'll go to Pacer games when the Knicks get rid of Isiah. Funny how emotionally distancing myself from that team has made me care much less for the NBA overall. Obviously, this is an "other."

BTW - the atmosphere was much better in Market Square than Conseco. It may have something to do with the teams though the first couple of years the Pacers were good. But there was something about that old concrete pit where the walls sweated and you got beer dumped on you, cursed at regularly, threatened with bodily harm and spit on during Knick games.

Hey my aunt did or does own the hardware store there.

OK...OTHER. Get rid of the phoney noises.....bring back the pep bands or the guy that used to play the Hammond B3 instead. Increase my pension or lower the price of DECENT seats. And bring in a winning team although I can live with a rebuilding team as long as I know TPTB are committed to winning.

Remember Dancing Harry geez? They need to bring him back too, or at

(Ya know I can't dance ya know I can't dance!)

I was just remembering some of the old commercials featuring Heywood Workman and Dale Davis etc. Now THOSE connected with the FANS, I really don't think the ads with the players coming up thru the floor onto a stage really connect with local fans at all. Too much of a Rock Idol atmosphere and not enough "humanity" to it. You don't connect to rock stars or bball players opining as rock stars. You do connect to a bunch of players stopping and picking up a hitchiker (Chris Mullen). Somebody needs to send thos old commercials to the marketing department.

    Oh, and cheaper parking.

I like going to games regardless of how well the team is playing. Of course, it's a lot better when we don't suck.
$2 parking behind the Fieldhouse. I live over an hour away with season tickets. Anyone want to meet up???

I've gone to more games this year than I have since I lived with my parents 15 years ago. I think I've been to 8 or 9. I've sat everywhere from on the floor to 4 rows from the top. You people just aren't real fans.

I'm sure if they just pumped some Asbestos into Conseco the atmosphere from MSA would come right back. That and the orange seats. (And before some young-on says "What orange seats?" they were originally orange. Conseco green isn't so bad after all.)
