Thread: Trade scenario that NBA Insider Chad Ford mentioned

Default Trade scenario that NBA Insider Chad Ford mentioned

Pacers trade Tinsley and JO to NJ for Kidd and Stromile Swift. The trades would have to be separate since Swift can't be packaged. This is just one he seemed to come up with, so I thought I would post it here. It would basically be a cap move for us to finally get rid of Tinsley. New Jersey would look good with a starting five of Tinsley, Carter, Jefferson, JO, and Krstic, with Williams and Boone backing up the big men.

This would save us 18 million in the long haul, and make us major players in the free agent market next year when Kidd's 20 million comes off along with Marquis 7 million, giving us plenty of room to resign Granger and bring in a free agent or two.

In general, any trade where we get rid of Tinsley is great in my book. I'd like to get a little more than that for JO though. Maybe if they'd throw in Boone, it'd be a good deal.

I'd do it, but I would hope they would toss in a big as well. I also don't know if I would want to see a pouty Kidd the rest of the season, but the cap space next year would be sweet.

I would do it, but does Kidd have a no trade clause in his contract?
It would be nice to see him in a Pacers uniform with Mike and Danny. His game really fits into what JOB wants this team to be.
If it didn't work out couldn't we trade him in the off season?

Swift is a good player, but no someone who really blows me away.

I'd do Swift for Tinsley, but I'd have to pass on J.O. for Kidd.

Kidd wants to be traded to a contender so the Pacers are not on his list.

Kidd wants to go to a contender, yes. However, even as a temporary move, this may help us out.

    1) It gets rid of JO and Tinsley.

    2) Even if we have to move Kidd again, he's going to bring back a better return than JO or Tinsley ever would.

I'd say jump on this trade if it comes up. Kidd won't be happy about it, but we can always move him in the summer. I'm pretty sure Kidd doesn't have a no-trade clause. At least the ESPN Trade Machine doesn't say he has one. (It does say that Kobe has one).

Yeah, Kidd doesn't really have a choice in the matter.

He would get him for a year and use him as trade bait. One problem is that he tends to beat up a girlfriend/wife in each city he plays for so we would need to move him before he did that one again!
