Thread: The Knicks/Pacers rumor

    Default The Knicks/Pacers rumor

Even though everyone agrees Bird won't deal with Isiah, here's an interesting deal. Isiah has said he wants a point guard and loves JO.

this would let us drop 26 million off the cap next year from Marbury and Rose, and get us out of the two worst contracts we have in Murphy and Tinsley, while adding a young version of Jeff Foster.

New York gets JO and its point guard. We could also get a first rounder out of it because we're the only one giving up an allstar, where as they don't even let Marbury play.
Half of the time we're gone, but we don't know where.

I would probably do it, just to get rid of JO & Tinsley. I would try to find a 3rd team to take Curry by the way, we don't need his soft play.

Without the pick, I'm against this trade. And I'm not sure I could handle another year of Starbury and two more of Curry.

    Ditto.

Make a guy with a bad heart run up and down the court? Brilliant.

I also think we would get more than this for Tin and JO.

I had a similar trade, but one more fair to NYK:

Take out Rose, Graham, and Murphy.

I don't want Randolph or Curry.

    IND gets:
    Stephon Marbury
    Malik Rose
    Knicks 2008 #1

    NY gets:
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Jamaal Tinsley

Two deals that expire next season and a Top 5-10 pick. I'd do it in a heartbeat, and if there's any GM stupid enough to possibly do it, it would be Zeke.

Throw in Randolph Morris to help is in the FC, I would do that.

Actually, I like that better. The only mod. I'd consider is swapping the pick with David Lee.

The more I look at this deal, the more I like it.

First, it is a major salary cut. Something like a 28M/cut per year for 2 years. Second, we might come away with 2 top 10 picks this summer. Third, JO is likely to be fairly ineffective the remainder of the year...making the pick more valuable as the Knicks tank.

As for subbing David Lee for the pick, IDK. I looked back at the 2005 draft board and the talent between #5 and #10 varied. The average player picked was probably David Lee talent. But considering our team does not need a tweaner/6 man type player...and that we have done fairly well with our picks of late...I would go with the pick.

I'd do it either this way or substituting Lee for the pick.
