Default I almost think all 3 teams win... maybe.

I'm not convinced, but at first glance I think all three teams might win in this trade:

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/feature...7~17&te=&cash=

Indiana trades Jermaine O'Neal, Jamaal Tinsley, Danny Granger
Indiana receives Vince Carter, Jameer Nelson, Nenad Krstic, Jamaal Magloire, James Augustine
Why: Indiana gets does this to not only get out of the O'Neal/Tinsley era, but to save some face while doing it by first and foremost going from Jamaal "insert list of problems here" Tinsley to a signed-for-6-years point guard Jameer Nelson, which is a huge step in the right direction for this team and the #1 reason you do this deal. They get three expiring contracts in Magloire, Augustine, and in Krstic who they'd probably re-sign if they feel his knee will be OK and he's a nice big man to have (though certainly not great). The cost of getting out of our crap? You have to give up Danny and gamble with Vince Carter.

Orlando trades Rashard Lewis, Jameer Nelson, James Augustine
Orlando receives Jason Kidd, Danny Granger
Why: Orlando goes for broke while not (except at PG) sabotaging the future. Jason Kidd running that show could change their season (which was already looking pretty good) by making the East a 3-way race instead of a 2-way race. They
get a mulligan on giving Rashard Lewis that huge contract while getting Danny Granger to replace him.

New Jersey trades Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Nenad Krstic, Jamaal Magloire
New Jersey receives Rashard Lewis, Jermaine O'Neal, Jamaal Tinsley
Why: Like Indiana, New Jersey wants to move past this era. Jason Kidd gets a trade to a contender like he wanted. They move out two of the big 3 while getting Lewis and JO as their consolation prizes as they gamble with Tinsley.

Ultimately I'm not positive this is a win-win-win trade, but I think I'm at least close.

actually this is fairly solid. other than the fact that i don't know if the magic would be willing to trade shard so soon after signing him -- and if they do trade him away if it would be worth it to do so without adding a more traditional power forward to play next to howard.

for the pacers the question whether the new roster is truly one that could compete with carter as the #1 guy and a #2 of an inconsistent dunleavy (we'd have to cut one of owens, graham or harrison and given the bigs we get back, i cut hempy).

    PACERS
    nelson / diener / owens
    carter / rush
    dunleavy / daniels / graham
    murphy / sh.williams / diogu / krstic
    foster / magloire / augustine

    NETS
    tinsley / m.williams / armstrong
    jefferson / wright
    lewis / nachbar
    o'neal / boone / allen
    se.williams / collins

    MAGIC
    kidd / arroyo / dooling
    bogans / evans / reddick
    granger / garrity
    turkoglu / cook / battie
    howard / foyle / gortat

magic would be the wild card in the mix and ultimately might pass.

EDIT: as for the nets, i think they like the deal. the pacers, it just feels like a deal the pacers would make -- i dunno if i would, but because i have little faith in carter (given his lengthy deal).

I don't think I'd want to watch VC in a Pacers uniform sulking for being in Indiana and giving a repeat performance of what happened in Toronto.

If I was giving up Danny, I'd want RJ. But I'd prefer to keep Danny, bring in RJ, and give up Shawne instead.

To be completely honest, I'd rather be trading Murphy and Dunleavy.

I agree with all 3 points.

I'd rather not give up Granger at all, he's the only decent player we got.

Yeah, as much as I like Jameer, giving up Danny would hurt a hell of a lot. And being forced to start Troy also bothers me much. Plus, no draft picks.

I'm not convinced we'd start Troy and Jeff, remember Jim is playing small ball right now. It'd probably mean Shawne Williams at the 4.

New Jersey makes out like bandits for a player who has asked for a trade Kidd, perpetual sulker Carter and a couple of loose ends.

Nelson is a barely average NBA starter, I wouldn't want Vinsanity.

Dont see the Magic breaking up what is a promising core, to gamble on Kidd staying healthy and guiding them to a championship.
