    If that's true, Nicholson's being an *******.

Yeah, we may not know the reason he said it. But, I can't think of a situation where you would make that comment about someone's death, unless you're being an *******. Sure the thought may cross your mind, but you don't have to say it. Unless, of course, you're an *******.

I know I'm one of few straight men that has seen it, but Brokeback Mountain is one of the most powerful, thought provoking movies I have ever seen. His performance in that film is one of the greatest of all time if not the greatest. He will always live on through continuing to touch people with that performance.

I saw it, I don't totally agree about it being excellent, but it was very good.

I wonder if he was commenting on the role of the Joker.

He was. I read previously (but without a direct quote/source) he'd 'put a curse' on Heath for getting the role he wanted (Jack was offended that he wasn't asked to play the Joker a second time). Don't know if that's true, but something must be up for him to say the other quote.

    Jack Nicholson curse?

I find this story a bit more credible.

Jack Nicholson warns people about using sleeping pills, and while he said he was 'furious' about not getting the role, he was laughing when he said it:

LA beat me to the punch...

While Jack's comment didn't bother me like it did some of you, I wonder if this maybe puts it into a different context than where it was at as a stand alone comment:

Fellow actor Jack Nicholson has said he knew from his own experience that one of the drugs, a sleeping pill named Ambien - marketed in Britain as Zolpidem - was dangerous.

"I warn people about Ambien," he said in London during a promotional visit for his latest film.

"I don't take sleeping pills but somebody said, 'Take this, it's mild'.

"I got a call in the middle of the night, kind of an emergency, and I almost drove off a cliff 50 yards from my house up in the mountains in Aspen. So it's something to warn people about."

Besides the above nugget, the gist of this article is talking about how one of the Olsen twins (Mary-Kate IIRC) was called BEFORE 911...

By the way, this in no way excuses Nicholson from suggesting that the death was Ledger's fault before all the facts were in. That is a dick move, and very insensitive to the family. But then Nicholson has never been a very classy guy.

EDIT: Since when were booty calls 'emergencies'?

    Nicholson's always been an *******.

A lot of people say that Nicholson isn't really a great actor, that he just acts on screen pretty much the same way he does in real life.

Plus, he's a Lakers fan. That should tell you all you need to know about the guy.

Are you referring to my line about M-K Olsen being phoned before 911? The masseuse found Heath unresponsive and she called Mary Kate before calling 911...

Or did I just miss something in this thread?

Don't know if anyone said it yet and I don't feel like reading everything but honestly i think the cause of death was just a large fall off of brokeback mountain.

I don't think anyone would really object if the government hired some operatives to destroy that organization (kind of like that the Israelis did in Munich) and dismantled them piece by piece, without really acknowledging it.
It's actually all one family. IIRC, there's only like 40 people in the "church" and the head guy is everybody's grandfather. Half of the men are lawyers.

It's a really weird group of people.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I don't understand why the New York police are not going to at least question MaryKate Olsen. The maid or whomever called her 3 or 4 times BEFORE she called 911 when she found him.

You would think that would be common procedure since no real cause of death has been determined.

Is this why the media continues to trip over themselves with shock over his death, because he portrayed some homosexual in a positive manner? Probably...
