Default Would Washington try to get something for Arenas

Would the Wizards start considering to get something out of Arenas befor ehe opts out of his contract after this season. He has mad it public he is going to opt out and test the market. So, would they rather lose 100% out on him, or atleast getting something in return?

Unfortunately for us that's just not even close to a fair trade for the Wizards.

Look for the Wiz to sign Agent Zero to a max contract, which they can offer more and longer than anyone else. No way Wiz don't resign him unless Gilbert just wants out, which I can't see.

Why would he opt out to go to Indiana?

He wouldnt opt out to goto indy. He is going to opt out at the end of the year. If Wiz know they cant or dont want to sign him to a max deal, they can trade him before the deadline and get something instead of NOTHING after the year.

So that we can have Gilbert for a couple months and he can sign elsewhere?

I can see him opting out then going somewhere like the Lakers.. That would be an all star team if the Lakers could afford him.

Holy toledo, that trade is unfair. If we could get Washington to do that, I think there would be riots in DC.
    Already stoked for 2013-2014.

A trade for Arenas AND Haywood (who is having a fine season) would, at the least, cost us JO and Granger. I don't see why the Wiz would make the deal either way, though, considering JO would just take minutes away/force out of position their two best active players, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler. I think that if they trade Arenas now, they'll want cap space and really high picks (something we can't offer them).

He's 31 and plays little to no defense. Great offensive talent. Would be paired well with a strong, big, defensive center. Fits well in Wash w/ Haywoode. A little short for the PF position (6'9").

Don't think he'd fit into Harter's system as it puts a lot of pressure on the post players.

Gilbert said (just like I have said on the board 3795490683489 times) That he does NOT want out of DC and he IS NOT TESTING THE MARKET!! He is opting put so that the Wiz resign him to a max contract, which they already said they will do.

Do you like the fact that he's going out of his way to take up as much cap room as possible on your team? I mean star or not, what he's doing directly makes it more difficult to build a contender with that roster because of less money being available. Not saying I blame him on an individual level, but it turns me off as a fan when I see a star putting himself above winning, even in this manor.

it won't matter to wizard fans, especially here in DC. he is BELOVED by most dedicated and casual fans (tho i do have a friend who said he wants to trade Gil because he thinks the team is running much better without him but it won't be happening). as that blog post about Gil & myspace from the other day indicates, he certainly does a lot for fans to make them love him. i'm not saying that wizard fans aren't the savviest but given how poor their team was for so long (and boneheaded with kwame and the mitch richmond deal) they love what is going on. a few years from now the cap issue will probably start mattering when/if the team never makes it over the hump but until then...

i do seriously doubt that Gil would leave either but there will be questions until he actually signs you're probably just gonna have to live with it MTO
    This is the darkest timeline.

No I dont like it, but he has earned it. Not only does he give 200% every game and hit about 30 game winning shots but he also took a cut to help sign our free agents a few years ago. Plus I cant be mad at human nature. lol

its just the fact that he has said that he doesn't want to leave and isn't trying to leave...but people don't read stories, they read headlines and assume
