Outgoing Players: Raef LaFrentz, Joel Przybilla, Jarrett Jack

I doubt we get a draft pick, but it is worth a try. This summer Raef's contract could land us another big trade. One unhappy star for Raef and Williams, Granger, or Diogu might work.

Other than these I don't see us giving up JO without getting a big that can block some shots. And that is one big massive hole that we would have to fill with the guards that we have on the defensive perimeter.

I doubt Portland is very interested in making a deal right now. The Sixers trade isn't awful because of the pick, but Dalembert will lengthen our cap woes.

I already posted scenario 1 for the most part a couple weeks ago or so (except were were getting Andre Miller and Giricek in the deal), and was reminded of how much Dalembert doesn't like JOB, so it's unlikely to happen.

We need to pursue high draft picks and expiring contracts. Simple as that. We really don't want to take on players with long deals like Green, Dalembert, Przybilla, etc. Our goal should be to rebuild over the course of Muphleavy's contracts (since both are highly untradable with their deals right now), and be ready to put together a run in the aftermath of their deals entering their final year (which is also Jamaal's final year).

IOW, suffer for two more years (after this one) while acquiring draft picks and expiring deals, and then rebuild Portland-style in 2011.

    Indiana Pacers

    Incoming Players
    Yotam Halperin
    Salary: $0 Years Remaining: 0

    Luke Ridnour
    Salary: $6,500,000 Years Remaining: 3
    PTS: 5.6 REB: 1.3 AST: 2.9 PER: 11.04

    Wally Szczerbiak
    Salary: $12,275,000 Years Remaining: 2
    PTS: 12.3 REB: 2.3 AST: 1.3 PER: 15.52

    Kurt Thomas
    Salary: $8,091,188 Years Remaining: 1
    PTS: 6.6 REB: 9.6 AST: 1.4 PER: 15.32

Outgoing Players: Jermaine O'Neal, Troy Murphy

    Seattle SuperSonics

    Incoming Players
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Salary: $19,728,000 Years Remaining: 2
    PTS: 15.6 REB: 7.3 AST: 2.6 PER: 16.02

    Troy Murphy
    Salary: $9,206,349 Years Remaining: 4
    PTS: 10.5 REB: 7.2 AST: 2.1 PER: 13.92

Outgoing Players: Yotam Halperin, Luke Ridnour, Wally Szczerbiak, Kurt Thomas and a Top 3 protected first-round pick

It's a gamble for us, because Seattle might finish with the 3rd or worse record, but I think it's one worth taking because we lose a lot of contract money. Also, we get a legitimate backup PG and a PG prospect in the unsigned rights to Yotam Halperin, who will be 24 in a couple weeks. It's probably too late to do this trade anyway, for Seattle has little to no chance of making the playoffs in the Western Conference. Also, I'm not sure if they'd pull the trigger if they did. Eh.

i highly doubt any of those teams would want o'neal's deal. no way seattle would want both JO and Murphy.

    random thought i did have...

    MIAMI RECEIVES
    j. o'neal, d. harrison, a. owens, s. graham

    INDIANA RECEIVES
    u. haslem, a. mourning, s. parker, r. lafrenz, r. fernandez

    PORTLAND RECEIVES
    m. blount

miami gets rid of parker and blount and adds depth and a front court presence to play alongside shaq, making a run this season. they also don't give up any of their youth or picks. they get about 17mil in exps for next season as well. having both o'neals would be a cap nightmare for the following two seasons but riley could either talk shaq into retirement or JO into renegotiating south beach and dwyane wade make it easier to take less $$$ one would imagine.

indiana goes into a rebuild but gets a good euro prospect in fernandez, an exp. in 'zo, a nice younger PF who can defend, and smush for PG depth. we get a big soon-to-expire big in lafrenz that could be attractive next summer.

portland for a playoff run gets a big that is only 90% worthless for a big that is 100% worthless and a euro prospect they wouldn't be able to afford to bring over.
    This is the darkest timeline.

Shaq hates JO so that won't work.

I hope Bird and Donnie are smarter than us because it does not look like JO is getting traded.

I think the chances of JO getting traded are the same as the Knicks firing Thomas this year.

GUYS!! We need someone that can "do it all" or make plays on his own. Remember, JO is still an all star. We could get an all star for him. We just need to find the right team that has a star but wants a big man.

I like this trade: Not sure if NJ would.. But I do.
