Default What makes a team "suck?"

The term is used so much, what does it really mean? What makes a team truly "suck?"

    Finishing last?
    Finishing below .500?
    Not making the playoffs?
    Losing in the first round?
    The second round?
    The conference finals?
    The Finals?
    Getting swept in any round?
    Losing to an "underdog?"

A team sucks when they lose often and by a lot, or if you don't like them.

So, then, every team other than the Pacers sucks?

For me, it has always been if their team name begins with the words "New" and "York"

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Hmm...maybe that works all the way around...

    New York
    New Jersey
    New Orleans
    Los Angeles (Clippers and Lakers)
    Golden State
    San Antonio

By George, I think we've got it!

Sure, winning is fun, but I never understood why everyone uses it as guage to determine how "good" their team is. That's not really fair.

In pro sports, somebody has to lose. There will always be a last-place team. Do the Cavs suck? I'd say no. There were just 8 teams in the East who were better than they were.

I wouldn't say a team sucks unless they just don't play well together, or give their best effort every night.
